Here I'll sum up my version.
>Run vanguard strikes on the highest level you can for vanguard marks (Don't do crucible)
>Buy Vanguard gear one piece at a time
> Upgrade armor as you go
> If possible by an exotic armor from Xur
> Get to level 30
>Run Crota raid as much as people.
(Or get carried through the raid at level 29)
There you go. No need to make it all fancy. Also, if there's one thing I learned from having three 32's, you'll want an exotic helmet as raid helmets drop the least. I got my third character to 32 in three raids by getting all armor except the raid helmet, of course I had extra radiant shards, but you get the point.

I don't know what you mean by fancy... lol but a lot of us don't do strikes and a lot of us don't do crucible. That is why I listed all methods that weren't associated with RNG to get up to Crota (such as vendor gear).
