yep, all that 3 queens business, plus all of the VoG armour descriptions point towards Singularity & Godhood being key concepts to understand the story. To some extents the idea the the Hive "Gods" inhabit realms which are in matter as well as form brought into being as the mind of the specific Hive God also implies that the Hive have undergone some variety of singularity event - Think hive mind. Like Crota is the gestalt mind of a particular grouping of Thrall, and that the CE raid environment is a physical manifestation of that gestalt, and that the "Crota" that we defeat is simply a conjuring of an avatar for the gestalt.
