Tricks and Tips: Help a Guardian out. (Even veterans may learn something).

Firstly, please don't post anything negative or unhelpful. Don't be THAT guy. I gave a tip on another thread and it was pointed out that A) many people didn't know about it and B) this forum needs to be more helpful. Here's my tip: Put field scout on your Thunderlord and reload so you have 60 rounds in the mag. Now change its perks to be more stable. You'll still have 60 rounds but you'll have more stability. Great for more Crits and higher DPS. This works for any gun but best with Thunderlord If you have a tip that you think that not many people know about, post it in bold for everyone to see and be enlightened. Happy hunting Guardians. Edit: I would like to commend all posters. Not only have I learned things that I never knew (and I've been playing since Alpha) but this post proves that the forums aren't full of douches. Many thanks. Edit 2: There are some amazing tips on this thread. Keep scrolling down and read, I'm sure there will be something that you didn't know. Please read before you post so that tips aren't repeated over and over. Many thanks. Edit 3: This thread has been so invaluable to so many that I will keep shamelessly bumping it for all to see. Keep adding your tips Guardians.

Nexus Nightfall Tip: Staying Up with Axis Minotaur (Solo) Works for all Classes - If you choose to stay up in the cave to snipe Sekrion, you can deal with the Minotaur that spawns there as well. The Minotaur does this most of the time: It will spawn, if it doesn't detect you, it will teleport closer to your location without shooting its gun. If you can anticipate this, you can get a running head-start and safely run past it while it teleports and keep running to where the mob of goblins were and it wont chase you there. Once you made distance from the minotaur, it will stay at the edge of the cave where Sekrion's stage leads to. You can safely snipe him or use a Rocket but beware he can still hit you with his gun. After the minotaur is dead, unload rockets or snipe Sekrion but use only one reload's worth of rounds just to keep track of the next Minotaur spawn and conserve ammo. Tip in a Nutshell: 1. Minotaur Spawns, stay hidden 2. Start running past it when its about to teleport 3. Keep running to the Goblin Mob spawn area 4. Take it down when its near the edge of the cave 5. Unload 1 rounds worth of Rockets or Snipers on Sekrion 6. Reload, Prepare for the next Minotaur and Repeat With patience you can easily solo the boss fight

      • These ones are really only for beginner VoG players or people who are struggling with it: Having trouble with the Atheon Oracles when you are teleported? Don't use a scout rifle or hand cannon. From my testings (that is, many VoGs trying this out) they do less damage to oracles than pulse rifles or auto rifles. Use something like Atheon's Epilogue, Praedyth's Timepiece, Corrective Measure, SGA, or any fusion rifle. Can't make the jumping maze? I know a lot of people love to just jump over the entire thing, but if you can't make that jump the first one or two tries, just jump down to the second block and jump across. Any class can make that jump, as long as you don't burn your entire jump at the beginning (that means lengthen your triple jump, gunslingers). Having trouble with using the relic on the Templar? Here's a list of tips for the entire team (take it from a very experienced relic holder): 1. Stay together. Not up for debate, and this should be rather obvious too. 2. If you can't see or easily get to an oracle, don't bother. The relic holder's grenade ability will bring up a bubble that will cleanse anyone in it. Just make sure that everyone who needs to be cleansed is close by the relic holder, as the bubble drains suer energy over time, so have everyone near, then hold the bubble for about 3 seconds and drop it. 3. Call out when you have your super up, when you are ready to fire, and when you are firing. Make sure that before you fire, everyone is ready to shoot the templar and that nobody is in the air or is using their rockets before they are detained. More advanced players can time their rockets before they are detained, but as this is for people who are having trouble, jus play it safe and dont equip them until after you are out of detain. I hope this helped at least some people. Good luck to all.

          • When ship pop in to drop enemies, if you shoot your rocket launcher at the ship where the enemies come out right when they pop out you can kill almost all of them in one shot. This works really well in public events when your on patrol

                • The mission "Fist of Crota" is the single most useful one for doing bounties in the entire game. Fallen majors: one drops from the ship at the very start, as well as other clustered dregs and such for grenade kills for the "kill enemies with solar or arc abilities". For Hive majors, you can skip everything and kill the Blade of Crota, and the boss as well if you want. (If you struggle with the boss and have a Striker Titan, just chunk a flash grenade and wail on him while he is blind.) Overcharge bounty? Stand in the room near where Omnigul floats and kill the thrills in groups as they approach. Also useful for Eris' "kill x hive at once with special/heavy, as you can do all this in relative safety so you don't die and reset the bounty. Even the "kill cursed thralls with melee" bounty is easily done here as you can thin them out and retreat to heal, then just go to orbit to rinse/repeat. The whole first area is useful for "melee kill 30 enemies" and the headshot bounty and "kill 100 enemies without dying" as they move slowly and don't pose much of a threat. Obviously, the "kill Blades of Crota" and "Cut the down" bounties are easily done by just running past everything. Due to the spawns, the "precision kills with hunting knife is easy on the early acolytes outside, the kneeling acolytes at the Blade, and on the rushing thralls both outside and in the room after the Blade. For the Fist of Havoc, ArcBlade and Nova Bomb mass-kill bounties, after the Blade run past the first wave of thralls in the next room and stop next to the bank oil-tank thing, then use super. You'll complete the bounty in one super and feel like a badass. (Also useful for generating a bunch of orbs for that bounty.) For "Kill Hive from behind", use the kneeling acolytes at Blade and the rushing thralls in the next room after Blade. (Easiest with sword equipped, use right trigger strong attack after running past them as they will be facing away from you and you can kill them in one downward smash.) I also use this mission for the Unstoppable bounty as I can finish a strike, then make a couple quick runs on Fist of Crota and get to 9000 Xp in relative safety. This mission even counts as Cosmodrome for the purpose of the "collect sprites for kills" bounty. I'm sure there are others that I missed as well, but hopefully this info helps.

                  • Th fastest way to beat Omnigul is to stand in the corner on the path that's perpendicular to the catwalk Omnigul hovers over (not the hole in the wall, but on that side of the room). It provides a solid line of sight for Omnigul and acts as a funnel for the ads coming up the stairs and around to you. Plus you have cover if you move back against the wall. And those cursed thrall twat-bags don't spawn behind you like they do in the entrance.

                    • in the 'Fist of Crota' mission, i like to just grab the sword and run the entire way straight to the boss. the sword should last juuuust long enough for you to get down there and kill him, no muss, no fuss. if you die in a bad spot during a nightfall you're running with friends, make sure you're not fireteam leader and go back to orbit, then rejoin. you'll spawn alive and ready to kill things again, just be sure to let your team know what you're doing so they don't have a heart attack :3 at Atheon, if you have a Defender Titan on the team, when Time's Vengeance ticks down have them pop a bubble over the relicholder at 1 second left on the clock, then stand off to the side edge of it so you can still shoot your detain bubble if necessary. even if you have Bastion on the bubble will be gone by the next time a relicholder hits the middle platform, so you're good to go. this method lets you wring the most damage time out of Time's Vengeance every rub, no need for bailing at 4 or 3.

                      • If you need glimmer run exclusion zone with 22+ heroic modifier on and pop some supply codes. Start the mission, kill everything on the first section apart from the two phalanx things with shields. Let them kill you. Rinse - repeat. 20 minutes later you'll have at least 15k more in the bank

                        • On the Archon Priest strike, many people stay in the bridge/initial area to deal with the adds spawning at the locked door. This isn't good since the adds (particularly minotaurs can still shoot and splash you. Instead activate and run to the area where you go to fight Draksis. You can snipe/scout rifle everything outside the range where they aggro (unless they're in berserk mode) or shoot. Plenty of cover for dealing with hobgoblins as well.

                        • As soon as you leave the building to fight The Devil Walker. The wall as to the right as soon as you walk out get on that. Cause that means that the devil walker wont be able to shoot at you, also no other enemies will be able to hit you. (Probably already known but some people might not know this)

                              • Start a Glimmer Savings Account Don't turn in your artifacts (axiomatic beads, network keys, house banners, silken codex) to the cryptarch for 200 glimmer a pop and keep smashing your head up against the 25k glimmer limit. Make a habit of skipping past them and decrypting your engrams and then turn around and save them in the vault. You won't miss them and there doesn't seem to be a limit on how many you can keep there. Then you'll be set for the next DLC.

                                • if your a defender titan you can make about 20 orbs (for the Eris bounty) in about 5 seconds. load fist of crota, run past all mobs until you reach the blade of crota. take his sword, run through the next room grab aggro from all the thrall, drop the sword and punch one hive, pick the sword back up and go to town. your punch must be the one that makes orbs from mele while your shield is up. took me a couple times to get it down, and timing is everything. I can usually knock out 4 bounties with that mission in 10 minutes or less.

                                      • Don't know if any of these counts much for a tip but... For the bridge encounter at crota end, you can hold the totems and plate without firing a single bullet. Just running in circles the thrall won't hurt you and the sword bearer has the most difficulty catching up. I do this often cuz killing the thrall will let the acolytes spawn often killing some people off. I've scared a lot of people doing this before lol. For vog anyone can do the jump puzzle. Jump the first two rocks then let yourself free fall till you get 3/4 of the way down. Then use your glides/extra jump to bridge the gap. Usually you'll get down there without dying unless you panic and jump too early. When you're running along the ledge you can jump out and use glide and lift to easily fly to the end of the ledge instead of worrying about the cracks. Gunslinger can triple jump pass it, and blade dancers having trouble can pop a super charge and just jump and slash through. Don't melee fight a warlock. If you can't make it to the bloom room during legions in vog, you can run to the back right ledge and drop off onto a small platform there. You're safe and friends freak out. If you're on the top platform where you spawn in vog (the wide one above the spawn one), go all the way right onto the broken edge. You can snipe both hidden oracles there. Two ice breaker users can easily cover the two on hm while putting stray shots in the others. People often forget you can jump on the lamps in crota abyss. It's easier to regain your orientation if you get lost and for first time hunters or ones just playing it safe, you can do this and get your stalker back at every lamp. Also follow the stone path as it leads to each lamp. Warlocks can chuck a solar grenade up at the crystal as you enter the deathsinger stage. This will call a wizard out without going into the rooms. If you jump on the spinning thing in the anamoly and jump off, you gain that momentum (going in the same direction) and it helps you traverse the map at amazing speeds. Great way to steal ammo and to get a jump attack. Gunslinger in atheon, if you have a few seconds to spare after unloading your sniper rounds during times vengeance, pop a golden gun and clear some supplicants. Gives some orbs and keeps your team safe. Same for anyone who gets a chance really, but it's easy for gs. Also never blade dance with in a certain range of an enemy to escape. It will auto target that enemy and take you back. Warlocks can get their highest glides when you start the glide while they're still ascending instead of the peak of their jump. Always be confident. Don't let someone's words shackle you when they weren't even spoken. Step forward, you can do amazing things gaurdian.
