Tricks and Tips: Help a Guardian out. (Even veterans may learn something).

Firstly, please don't post anything negative or unhelpful. Don't be THAT guy. I gave a tip on another thread and it was pointed out that A) many people didn't know about it and B) this forum needs to be more helpful. Here's my tip: Put field scout on your Thunderlord and reload so you have 60 rounds in the mag. Now change its perks to be more stable. You'll still have 60 rounds but you'll have more stability. Great for more Crits and higher DPS. This works for any gun but best with Thunderlord If you have a tip that you think that not many people know about, post it in bold for everyone to see and be enlightened. Happy hunting Guardians. Edit: I would like to commend all posters. Not only have I learned things that I never knew (and I've been playing since Alpha) but this post proves that the forums aren't full of douches. Many thanks. Edit 2: There are some amazing tips on this thread. Keep scrolling down and read, I'm sure there will be something that you didn't know. Please read before you post so that tips aren't repeated over and over. Many thanks. Edit 3: This thread has been so invaluable to so many that I will keep shamelessly bumping it for all to see. Keep adding your tips Guardians.

  • Not sure if this counts, but as a Stormcaller, one of my personal favorite loadouts for Mayhem are to have Transcendence, Ionic Blink, Electrostatic Mind, and a max of either Discipline or Strength. Impossible Machines are a plus.

  • New trick. If you have Khepri's Sting gloves, put on hungering blade then crouch and go invis. Switch back to the crouch invis perk. Now you have crouch invis with no cool down as you have the perk twice and you've unsynced them so each cool down will finish while you're still invis. If you time it right you can stay invis all the time

I just learned (no really like...2 minutes ago) that... After acquiring a lock with a tracking rocket, pop out of ADS, aim straight up in the air(or anywhere with enough open space really), fire, and then quickly ADS on your enemy again until the homing signal beeps and the rocket will still track to target. Useful for when your target finds cover or is in a less than ideal position No more Truth rockets harmlessly slamming into boulders and trees on Shores of Time because homeboy took cover. Also some things I've known for a while... When using No Land Beyond, if you hit reload and then sprint in quick succession after every shot it cancels the rechamber animation allowing you to fire again more quickly And... A Titan Defender's suppressor grenades not only shut down player abilities, grenades, double jumps, and supers in PvP, they also shut down the following: All Wizard attacks (including Omnigul and Deathsinger) Knights' Wall of Darkness Captains' teleport ability Vex teleport abilities Hobgoblin solar shield Servitor teleport ability All non-boss enraged states and Fallen invis ability *Note I've been informed that Flashbangs also work on Wizards in the same way. I'll have to test but I believe this means that it will work for all other enemies as well since while they're blinded they just kinda wander around til they can see again. For PvE this actually seems better because suppressors only shut down abilities whereas Flashbangs make enemies stop firing at you entirely Edit: Oops.. just realized OP already stated my last tip (deleted) lol. My bad bro. I'll add to it though. If you leave at least 1 round in the magazine you can swap back to Field Scout, reload, then to Perfect Balance again for the same effect. Also works with any other perk that you may want to swap Field Scout for (Hammer Forged, Flared Magwell etc.) When encountering a blink strike shotgunner, your first instinct is likely going to be backpedal, jump, or both. DON'T do that. Instead, sprint straight for the area they just blinked from. Both of you will still have to turn 180 degrees to face each other, but you should be out of shotgun range and they will still be airborne, which removes their advantage and gives it to you instead. Note* This is best used when your enemy blinks from ground to air. It's not nearly as effective (if at all) if they go air to ground. In PvP, High Caliber Rounds cause your target's aim to bounce around much more than it normally would while being shot. Works exceptionally well against snipers, hand cannons, and scout rifles as their effectiveness relies on making every shot count. Most players don't aim center mass with precision weapons (Otherwise, you know, what's the point?) so their shots are more likely to miss if they're under fire anyway, HCRs make it that much harder on them. (how do i explain this?....) When firing a scout rifle at its max RoF, keep your aiming reticle slightly above your targets head rather than trying to compensate for the recoil. Most scouts don't have much drift left or right when firing and they actually fully recover from recoil BEFORE your aiming reticle suggests that they do. Meaning when firing at max RoF it will look like your bullets should be passing harmlessly over your target's head, when in reality you will still be landing consecutive crits. (I hope I explained that well enough) On the Destiny app, instead of posting a comment on a thread asking for a reply so you can come back to it later, select the "star" button at the bottom of the OP. This adds the thread to your "favorites" section for quick reference and won't be force deleted like a reply notification will due to more replies and likes piling up in your notification section. If you "star" (like) a comment within a thread, it will show up in your "activity" section that shows posts and comments you've liked or replied to, although these will be force deleted when more pile on top. If you need to reload a weapon with a slow reload speed but also need to escape a high stress situation, try this. Sprint, jump, and tap 'A' (X for PS) again on your descent and then begin your reload. If done correctly, tapping to "double jump" when you're about halfway to the ground causes your glide or boost to make you travel laterally rather than up into the air. This keeps you low to the ground, out of enemy fire, and allows you to reload your weapon without sacrificing speed. You'll have to re-click 'sprint' when you hit the ground again but you'll still be at sprint speed while you're reloading. Great for MGs and shotguns. *Note- Can be tricky to pull off with glide and I don't think this works with the Hunter jump. Sorry my ninja friends. I have a couple of guides I wrote as well Gunplay in PvP: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/112444397/0/0 A guide for Titans: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/112675753/0/0

Time to explain hive disruptor. It does not increase overall damage but rather has a chance of dealing extra damage, every shot you shoot could deal an extra bonus. Grad an abyss defiant and spray down a hollowed knight and watch the damage. Every shot will deal maybe 100 and sometimes a 400 or 500 pops up. This buff makes the abyss defiant a really good assault rifle against give majors. And no, burns do not increase the damage, I don't think it does, didn't look to increase. Same applies for oracle disruptor. Holding the jump button makes you go higher. Initially on Titans and warlocks, both jumps on hunter. Spacing your jumps on a hunter lets you go higher/further. Pressing the d-pad while on a sparrow gives directional signals. If you have a tumbler sparrow and are in the air while holding RT and press your d-pad, you character does tricks. (This one is highly unknown) you can reset hard raids, when selecting difficulty don't press at when choosing hard mode, press X.(Xbox) At this point I hope most people understand the patrol mission symbols and which one is which. There is a path from the forgotten shore to the rocketyard, its in the very back of the forgotten shore, opposite side of the omnigul strike spawn, and the side path in the defend room of the sepsis strike. Need fusion rifle bounty? Grab a vex and go nuts. Headshot bounty? Go to Venus patrol, turn left and sit on that giant rock with a sniper or scout rifle, works with fallen majors too. Hive majors? Go to cosmodrome patrol and turn left and down those stairs, there's usually 3 hive majors that spawn, kill them, go into the previous room behind the box, wait 5 seconds then go back in. Doing part 2 of thorn bounty, but you want to raid? Some of the Knights at deathsinger will count towards to bounty, get it done in 2 go'a. No heavy synths? You can do the heavy ammo glitch anywhere! It despawns fast so use it while you can. Need to kill Urzok? Grab a good scout rifle, preferably the fang, sit next to the place where the hive spawn during the forces event far from the cave, there's a door, hard to miss. Stand in the doorway and shoot towards the loot cave, nothing should spawn next to you, do this until urzok spawns and there shouldn't be very many boomers if you killed everything, lure him down towards the bottom of the hill, and you can either push him off the cliff with your sparrow(after you shoot him) or just kill him. Wanna kill Sardon (fist of crota) fast? Kill that blade of crota and rush towards him, running past the hive and murder Sardon with the sword. I'll edit in more advice as I think of it.

            • Upgrading equipment. Do the hardest daily you can with your best equipment but most have a break between killing the last minion and then deploying your ghost. Use this break to change to any armor or weapons that need upgrades. When you deploy your ghost is when you get the experience drop. Want to double down? Use that same break in action to activate a telemetry for another bump in experience then run to the tower to trade in any bounties.

            • Tower Tip! Step 1: Find purple ball Step 2: Slide Kick the Purple ball from the steps behind the Mail Room on top of the building and onto the fan. (This is the most difficult task you will face) Step 3: Run up to where you "Activate Fan". Step 4: Activate Fan Step 5: Watch Purple Ball float up and down Step 6: (Step 6 NEVER FAILS) Watch jealous Guardian jump on top of the building and steal your ball like the evil neighbor you used to live by when you were a kid

            • Whenever you see another Guardian when in battle, any time where their level is displayed shows an exclamation (!) point, this means their shield is gone, and that their health bar is in the red! This may be someone on your fireteam, or an opponent in the Crucible!

              • After killing the Deathsinger in Crota's End, there is a Knight that functions as the trigger for the checkpoint / loot drop. He seems to appear under the left tower (left from the spawn, aka the side with the Hive horde). I was part of a hard mode raid last night and only two of us survived the push to kill her. One of the rando's with us mentioned this, and sure enough, it worked. This might be common knowledge, but it was the first I've heard of it. It definitely makes this part a little quicker.

When running the relic during the atheon encounter your special meter will be full before your team finishes killing oracles. You can then use your super to one hit kill the final oracle which sometimes is the difference between life or wipe.
