Holy crap, long post. I didn't read it all but seems well thought out. Crucible is broken far beyond weapon selection though.

It can seem that way. It's kinda like a large scale rock-paper-scissors game. This skill beats that skill, this super beats that super etc. But I personally think if you can learn what works well against what it can feel much more balanced. Every class, skill, and weapon requires a different play style. And all have their advantages and disadvantages. The trick is recognizing them and then utilizing/exploiting them.

Don't forget the range factor. You also left out first shot effect. He who lands the first shot usually wins.

Nah I got that in there. Under the hand cannon section where it says "also the case with most weapon types".
