You won't be left out. The game's lore is set far enough in the future that most of the lore is independent. If needed, you could probably watch 20 minutes worth of lore videos to catch up, if needed. As for replay ability, you can easily get 60 hours on one playthrough. Combine that with PvP, multiple builds, play styles, NG+, and all the DLC content, and it has very high replay value. As for tips... Go into it blind. This will make it the most fun first time, until you get absolutely stuck. In the case that you do get stuck, try to head somewhere else. There are multiple paths to take in the game. Knowing when to block and when to roll is very important, so learn how to do that. Also, learn your weapons. When attacking, you're stuck in the animation, so know when you can strike without being hit yourself. Don't rush through, and take your time with the combat. Rash actions oftentimes lead to death. If you need any more help, there are plenty of Souls fans ready to help out, either with advice or in-game summoning. Good luck, and Praise the Sun!

  • Good to know. Now 60 hours you say I could easily get out of it, are you talking about strictly the story in that sense or getting the max level / gear?

In a way, both. Most armor/weapons are found along the way, along with max level. By the end of the game, you find yourself using max level gear and being around level 150. The thing is, you need these upgrades to do well late-game. Damage begins falling off for weapons as time goes on. Luckily, upgrade materials are found according to area, so you shouldn't have too many issues with not having enough damage if you use all your upgrade materials. DLC content, however, is not part of the main story, but has plenty of armor, weapons, and lore.

  • Hah, nice. Just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve. The beginning of the game is a bit tough, and the combat in general is not very forgiving. :D

  • I welcome the challenge, I dont give up easily when it comes to games. Honestly a lot of games now adays cater to the casual fanbase. Which isnt always a bad thing but ive never considered myself a casual gamer so it bothers me sometimes. Im actually surprised at how long ive played destiny because of how random and usually undeserving the reward system is.

  • Alright, good! You're going to love Dark Souls 2 then. Once you get used to the difficulty, it becomes very fun. Or maybe the challenge at first will be fun from the beginning. :D Oh, and as a note, there is a tutorial area at the very start, which is completely optional.
