Making exotic primaries relevant in Raids/Nightfall/Weekly Heroic

Just wanted to throw this out there and see what sticks. Something that has been bothering me about the Raids/Nightfall/Weekly Heroic for a while is that by not having elemental damage for Exotic primaries, they are inherently inferior to Raid primaries for these events. I assumed, I am sure like many of you, that Exotic tier weapons would be the coolest and most powerful weapons in the game. For special and heavy weapons, this is largely the case, not so with Exotic primaries(at least for PVE). The asthetics of these weapons are great, but they simply aren't nearly as effective as Raid primaries during Raids/Nightfall/Weekly Heroic. I mean, something as powerfull as Thorn is still outperformed by Fatebringer for arc(not hating on Fate, love that gun), or better yet, Atheons Epilouge for void. I think that adding elemental damage to Exotic primaries would give us all more flexibility in choosing which loadout we want to bring to any fight. Here is a quick example of what could be.... Suros - solar Hardlight - arc/void (would have to change bullets to purple) Monte Carlo - arc (I am on Xbone, haven't used one but seems to fit best) Bad Juju - void Red Death - void/solar (void seems to fit better but dunno about two void pulse rifles) Mida - arc/solar Last Word - solar Thorn - void Hawkmoon - void/arc (again I feel that void fits better i.e. moon/night/dark, but dunno about two void HC's) NLB - solar ( Every hit blazes....seems to fit nicely) Uni-Remote - arc Let me know what you guys think. PS4 pep's what about my ideas for your exclusives (for now) :) Bump if ya like, I'm out.....Z

  • I like this, opens up new weapon combinations for certain situations. Like nightfalls and such. I mean it's not like I still wouldn't use fang of ir for arc damage for example, I'd just mix it with thunderlord. Legendaries with burns would still be relevant is what I'm trying to say .-.

  • I'm actually more in favour of them adding 'kinetic burn'. Put your money where your mouth is Bungie. 'Kinetic' was clearly just a throwaway term for 'you get nothing', but since you've made it a damage type, make it relevant in the game ;-) Kinetic burn would be really cool. Your other weapons do regular damage, but your Kinetic primaries do more.

      • Definitely agree that elemental damage to primary exotics would make them way more useful. With damage being the same between exotic and legendary primaries I'll usually opt for a legendary primary and save the exotics for special/heavy. All the extra perks in the world don't matter if the weapon doesn't do the damage you expect. Basically, by not adding elemental damage to exotic primaries they are only good in pvp and patrols.

          • Well not all nightfalls have burns, and weeklies have the tendency to not have any burns.

            • I'm on 360, Hard Light's over penetration does penetrate shields in PvE while damaging them at the same time, even against higher level enemies (ran a lvl 30 story and watched a captain's shields and health drop at the same rate with each hit).
