I realize this isn't news to some people, but for those who don't already know (and i know many don't because i'm constantly telling my raid groups about this), running the lamp section with icebreaker is a HUGE help. You can turn around and no scope/quick scope into the crowd of thrall and it will destroy most if not all of them, not to mention you get the +2 Agility. Give it a try.
Edit:
MIDA sounds like another great weapon to use for this. Unfortunately though, i do not have that gun. So i can't try it out. :(

BEST. THING. EVER.
-
Icebreaker explosions almost never works for me. Maybe cause im on last gen.
-
Yep ICE BREAKER FTW
-
icebreaker explosions count as kills by the icebreaker so it makes infinite explosions when infinite monsters spawn so when on is kill with IB all of the things close enough explode aswell
-
Also an easy way of completing that 'kill x hive rapidly with a special weapon'.
-
Lot of comments saying FB is the best. However nice FB may be it requires aiming and critical killing, as where IB is literally just quick scope and a whole crowd blows up. Ran both and personally feel IB wins (the +2 agi is just icing). Really though a hunter with don't touch me (if they have MIDA it is even easier) on is way better, gives me crucial time to make a sandwich.

Use MIDA :)

What's an icebreaker? What's the abyss lamps? What's a thrall? What's firefly?
-
I regularly have the Destiny program lock up the Xbox One display, never to respond again, if I kill a mass of enemy at once with an Ice Breaker shot. This has happened quite a few times while running the Abyss in CE. Usually the screen will freeze, in the middle of a huge on-screen explosion, and the only way to get back control is to exit to the Xbox One menus and quit the application. As a result I now try not to kill so many at once.
-
Or MIDA since its special upgrade lets you have +10 agility. Grenades are for explosions
-
Actually best way to do lamps is make agility go up run around lamp until darkness gone for each lamp. and when you get to the end touch the pad hop on a rock kill ogre done
-
I only use this and fatebringer for the lamps

Obsidian mind, end of discussion

Edited by Steveo340: 4/9/2015 6:46:54 PMMida is amazing in the Abyss. If only I could quickly switch between Mida and IB! The thing with Mida is, most times I have to slow down so I don't activate a lamp too soon and to help out team mates by killing thrall. I like to equip Mida and a low ROF/high impact MG, like my Deviant Gravity (with field scout). That way I can switch from Mida to what is essentially a full auto scout rifle with much more impact and a way larger magazine when I need to quickly clean up some thrall. I also am thinking I should level up my Found Verdict and see how a full auto shotgun does at wiping out a pack of thrall (not looking forward to the reload part though). I can't wait to get my lvl 27 Hunter leveled up, to try the Abyss with my Mida and Don't Touch Me gauntlets.

Try Some goofing around with the necrocasm precicion kills Will turn thralls into exploding cursed thralls ;)
-
Mix the icebreaker with a fatebringer, explosions for days x2
-
This is the only way I run it. Ice breaker wrecks in the abyss
-
Any weapon with firefly works too
-
Hunter with max agility and mida can walk and avoid thrall even with wod 10
-
FATEBRINGERRRR
-
Fatebringer (or my Satrienne Rapier w Fatebringer perks) is my go to for the abyss. Anything with firefly will clear those thrall reeeal quick.
-
Whats midas perks that allow you to run so quick
-
I got my 7th mida today. Still no monte Carlo or lucky raspberry.
-
I just jump up the 2nd lamp ledge and don't see a single thrall
-
Fatebringer. Every shot does splash damage, and a nice explosion with a headshot. Also, compatible with the idea of Ice Breaker and +2 agility, if I didn't run Black Hammer to deal with Ogres.
-
Always used icebreaker, I'll solo lamps as a Titan hard or normal as long as I've got ice breaker. Sure I could do it no problem without it though
