Assholes are in every walk of life. They are on XBL and PSN. They are levels 1-32... They are titans, hunters, and warlocks. Its not the character that makes them the way they are, its the fact that they are a shitty person. All you can do is report them (I usually do it multiple times) on both Destiny and your gaming service so you are very unlikely to be match made with them again. (If they are a real douche, I take the effort to search their gamertag and add them to my 'blocked' list.)
Fact is though, most people I encounter in Destiny are pretty cool, and easy going, and not that terrible at the game (they might not be pro, but they are competent.) The ratio of decent people in-game is much higher than this forum, that is for sure...

I do report whenever I get the chance. I just seems like I report so much that I feel like I'm wasting my time. The forum is quite hilarious considering soooo many people talk shit but not once have I ever got a message from anyone being confrontational. Keyboard warriors are funny at best.

Sometimes you do have those days where you have a streak of running into idiots. It helps to have a good set of guardians on your friends list so you can run with them to do heroics/nf/raids and all that. And yes, the forums usually are quite entertaining. Sometimes the repeat posts are dull and annoying, but I just ignore them and look for the more intriguing and/or creative posts. It can be mildly annoying when you post a decent thread only for it to be lost among the array of stupid and unoriginal threads, but what can you do? Anyway, I play on both XB1 and PS4, so feel free to add me if you just want an easy going player to occasionally run with. I'm certainly not the best player, and I don't raid a whole lot (because I am a casual gamer despite my absurd amount of gaming hours in Destiny; nearly 1000. If you do decide to add me, make sure to send a message to, so I don't think its a random invite, as I get way to many of those and therefore ignore them...) *Gamertag is the same here and on both systems.
