What about trading? Or gifting, even?

I want to trade!

I want to give things to people!

MINE! MINE! MINE!

I'd been playing for a while now, and my wife plays as well. The one thing I've noticed is the fact that class-based items aren't entirely exclusive to the class you're playing when it comes to what you get from engrams. My wife primarily plays a Warlock, and it seems all I get from engrams is Warlock armor. So my suggestion is this: Why not be able to give our unwanted items to someone else? We have a mailbox, so why can't we mail things to other people, even items? I have a few warlock items that I'd just LOVE to give my wife to help her out, but have no way to. Would this even be feasible at all?

  • A trading or gifting system would be abused. There's already people advertising carrying people through Hard Crota and selling checkpoints for cash 'donations'. Not going to happen.

  • Well if trading/gifting items were to be implemented, then the game would be drastically easier. Since after you hit level 20 you have to acquire armor to level up. If you could give things away, then leveling would be way easier and would defeat the purpose of doing raids for gear and weapons. That would be the only problem I could see.

  • No there will never be gifts or trading because people would find loop holes and spread weapons to masses. Also, bungie knows that most people play for a specific weapon so why would they want people to play less?
