Does anyone else match their shader to the map?

I'm not sure if it is actually helpful, but I try to blend in with the map, such as using the copper (crota) shader on vex levels, Thunderdevil on dark levels, red on mars, etc. Does anyone else do this? Does it really help?

  • Something else I've tried is changing to a blue shader in the hopes that when the enemy sees blue out of their eye their old instincts will make them think I'm a teammate (which are always blue in many games) and give me a few fractions of a second before they notice me. Any idea if this is helpful?

  • Everyone has names and health bars over their heads so no, I wear my Chatterwhite in PvP with pride. I can see them and they can see me.

  • I like the sunsetting shader on my titan and I think it helps camo often on certain maps.

  • You do realize most people who play PvP have Hawkeye's that can pick off a player in full camouflage hiding in a bush. I don't think having a shader that matches the map would matter to most players.

  • I do change it up for pvp! No point running around like a chatterwhite beacon making you easier to see!

    • When I normally play crucible I wear the God of War shader so my enemies can't see me bleed. When I run into a 6 man fireteam and half the team quits in the first 10 seconds I change my pants to Glowhoo.

      • Not much use really. Would matter if you're at sniping range beyond reach of radar. But all the snipe spots are well known and even then you can see a dude, no matter color of shader. It says something when a whole map can be crossed in under 10 sec, the camo-blend-surprise flank wont really work here. If you like that stuff try Bf4, the firestorm map for instance. All metal-mono color camo is sick on tanks, wouldn't believe how easy it is to penetrate into a control point without anyone noticing

I don't try and "camo up". I will ditch my God of War for something that's not.... OMGTARGET!!! I'll also ditch my flaming arm band for something more modest.

Yes! All the time, I wondered if it was just me :p Edit: It might make very minimal differences and more experienced players don't seem as phased, but I find shaders that match the surroundings catch a lot of players out who don't radar watch as much. Then I'll throw on a chatter white to try similar moves and get spotted instantly!

      • Lol...never actually thought of that! I change shaders according to what I'm doing. Chatterwhite and Mark of Titan for VOG, Cryptographic & Mark of Pit for Crota, Thunder Devil when doing bounties Nightfall/Weekly (maintenance stuff) God of War for PVP Applicable banners applied to tasks as well

Shaders do help sometimes in PVP. Depends where you are

        • Not really, no. I do match my cloak to the shader, though. Cuz I like to look my best when crushing enemies of the dark.

        • It does nothing. It's a shader, not a cloaking system. If anything it would be ever-so-slightly more useful in PvP to help you blend in but the colors are so different than the backgrounds that is quite hard to do and would only work in a very small section of areas on the PvP maps

        • I suppose it might make you a little harder to spot if the enemy isn't concentrating or tired, but it is not going to revolutionise your PvP experience.

Not really. If anything I'll use Chatterwhite for VoG, Glowhoo for Crota, and then I just stick with my FWC shader for everything else.

It doesn't help due to the markers above your head, but I do it anyway for fun. Or rock Aurora Blir for pinky goodness.
