Rocket launchers in pvp tips?

So whenever i try to use a rocket launcher i mostly tend to fail to get a kill. I mostly try n get the opponent with tracking but for some magical reason the tracking almost always misses them. How do you people use rockets? Do you shoot it directly at the person? Let tracking get them? Or just shoot the rocket at their feet? Edit: does anyone know if any vendor sell a rocket launcher with any type of proximity detonation?

    • Crucible vendor rocket has proximity, truth is the best rocket for pvp but it's exotic

      • You need a rocket with proximity detonation. Anything with grenade and horseshoe is better than Tracking. Both Gjallarhorn and Truth, the best PVP rockets, have proximity detonation.

Get one with 100% blast radius or proximity detonation Forget guided and Ghallahorn + jump as you fire and aim at feet Try in PVE just jump and aim between crowd at the floor it will take them all out

      • As others mentioned, Grenades and Horseshoes is the best perk. Tracking is good for the long range, but it can miss as you know. On the other hand, if you don't have any launchers which has G&H, aim the ground near the target. I like to shoot by hip fire in this case, so you can act and shoot fast.

      • Shoot rockets at platforms nearest to the enemy, never directly at them… unless you have Truth, that thing will do a 180 just to hit its target

        • 3 words: Grenades and Horseshoes. Proximity detonation is a must on a competitive PvP rocket launcher, since it means less of those stupid near-misses and more kills.

        • Tip-use a heavy machine gun instead.

        • Don't use tracking, you want proximity detonation for PvP if you want to use rockets, truth is amazing for that, ghorn has the hidden proximity perk as well. I rarely use them though unless I have a rocket bounty, I can get a lot more kills with a machine gun.

        • I sit by the heavy and let everyone grab it. I snag mine a minute later when the enemy has used all their heavy ammo. Then i go grab my ammo that's waiting for me. I easily get 10+ kills with corrective measure.

          • I have Gjallarhorn, Truth, and a nice Arc Version of Radegast's Fury with G&H and Field Scout. Tracking is good for longer range shots without a bunch of terrain in the way. Grenades & Horseshoes is probably a better PvP perk for blind firing down long corridors or into Control Zones when enemies are attempting to capture them.

          • Don't use tracking, too many things can go wrong (blink jump mainly), instead try grenades and horseshoes. It's on truth (with tracking as well) I have it on my radegasts fury, or you may get lucky on a blue launcher like the despot. This way you don't have to zoom In either - just fire in the enemies general direction and the kill is yours. Pro tip: if it has grenades and horseshoes plus a high velocity/blast radius the more likely you are to outgun the opponent. Check my first warlock a launcher for the most ridiculous velocity/blast radius combo.
