We're hitting a lull, but I think that is more because AAA developers are having to choose between making games to work for all the platforms (pc, x1, ps4, ps3, 360) or just next gen and pc. So far the games that have come out solely for next gen have been quality titles, but it's tough because making a game for next gen only gives you about 35 million potential buyers, compared to the 140 million if you include ps3 and 360. Also the massive rise in F2P and mobile games with a ton of microtransactions has proved to be very successful which is just adding to the dilemma of where companies want to take their games. It also doesn't help that gamers expectations are getting higher and higher for new games.
