There are charts and links for TL:DR scrubs ***THIS POST IS CURRENTLY OUTDATED*** -I'll come back another time and re-check and edit everything. So, there are still a few of us that are struggling a bit to get their characters higher than 30, or if you have a 32 character, but want another one of a different class. I'm here to help. Step 1: Make your guardian, complete the story mode or get it to level 20. Step 2: Starting with Vanguard Eagle, work you way up trying to get light level gear from the rewards. As you get gear and equipt it, your light level will increase allowing you to do the next strike in the playlists. If you get gear for another character, remember that you can still save it if you don't have that character yet, to save you time in the future. -----------------------------------Eagle Viper Wolf Tiger Roc(The Dark Below[DLC]) Level:--------------------------18----------20-----22------24----26 Vanguard Marks:--------0-------------2-------3--------6------6 Vanguard Reputation:10----------12-----14------25-----25 Step 3: This is what kind of sucks, the highest strike for non-dlc players is Vanguard Tiger (For The Dark Below DLC), which wields a maximum of light level 15 gear, which is a total of 60 light. Vanguard Roc strikes give you light level 20 gear, amounting to a total of 80 light (Remember as well, a gear's light level is not fully upgraded until you upgrade them to their max.) Lvl. Light required 21-----------20 22-----------32 23-----------43 24-----------54 25-----------65 26-----------76 27-----------87 28-----------98 29-----------109 30-----------120 31-----------132 32------------144 Step 4. At this point, you're a total of level 26, congratulations! Now, you can either do Normal Vault of Glass raid on Venus with some friends, or go to destiny LFG (www.destinylfg.net/) and find a group there. If you don't know how to do VoG (Vault of Glass), here is an awesome youtube video on how to do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlQ3cuZ9VaE The nice thing about getting gear from VoG is well, it's free! But, of course, you have to work for it and it's random who will get it. But, if you don't already have 300 attack guns or greater, this will benefit you as weapons will drop in the raid. Step 5. Now you just need to do Vanguard Tiger or Roc to get Reputation and Marks. (They both give the same amount, so it doesn't matter) Then, when you have gotten enough, you can simply go to a vanguard vendor and buy what you need. Helmets cost 120 vangaurd marks and a Vanguard commendation, which you get one for hitting level 3 and above on the Vanguard, [[Dead Orbit, FWC, or New Monarchy Vendors,]]----<(these 3 are the best, because they have a higher chance of giving you weapons and armor when you start getting supply packages at rank 3. You must find the vendor and buy their class item, a cloak, sash, or brace depending on what class you are) or gauntlets, chests, and boots that do not require a commendation. So it's best to buy these first. The max amount of Vanguard and Crucible marks are 200, so after completing your vanguard marks, you can move on to Crucible and get marks for that. If you are in Dead Orbit, FWC, or New Monarchy and wearing their items, your exp and levels will move to your specific vendor, so you will not be able to buy stuff from the vanguard vendors, only the weapons and armor that your clan is selling, so choose wisely if you pick a clan. Step 6. After buying all the gear you need and have leveled and upgraded it, you should be level 31 or near it, now you can either do VoG hard, or try to do Crota's raid on normal from LFG again. Getting to this point can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks, depending how much you play, if you already have a character leveled over 27, or are starting from a fresh new account. Thanks for reading, (if it even helped anyone), -Kyle

I would add something about farming Public Events. They provide 4 Vanguard marks per completion, and have the chance to drop Ascendant Materials. I typically farm them on Earth and the Moon because they're fairly easy to navigate, and Earth has the most on the rotation. You can also farm missions for rep while you wait for the pub to pop. There are a lot of trackers for them, but I prefer this one: http://destinypublicevents.com Note that there is about a 6 minute time window on pubs. If it hasn't popped after 6 minutes, move onto the next. Also, the color listed is the reliability of the event. Greens pop most of the time, orange not as much, and I rarely go after reds unless i'm already in the zone. I have farmed the majority of my marks this way, and never really farmed them from strikes. They can be unreliable at times, but I can still typically get more marks in the long run from pubs than from strikes. Either way, it's a way to break up the monotony a bit between strikes and while farming mission rep. ProTip: If you're on the Xbox One, snap Internet Explorer to use the public event tracker. It actually fits fairly well on the side bar.

  • Get a life man. It's not rocket science. All you had to say was "get better armour and grind strikes"
