*Puts on flame shield from Playstation users*
Lately when I've been playing for a couple of hours my Xbox will shut off and the power supply will be red hot even though it's out in the open. I've had to keep a fan on it in order to stop this from happening. I just wanted to know how common this issue is?
(Just happened again now because I forgot to turn on the fan. I was leading a group of new Guardians through the VOG and of course it shut off at the end. I have faith that they'll make it though)

Such a shame.... i cant say more.... damn flame shield lol

I had mine shut off a couple times. I made sure it was cooled down and dusted everything off really good. Been fine ever since. I would try that and if it continues you may have to contact MS.

Edited by CrazyCadder: 3/6/2015 4:57:31 PMThat's odd that yours is overheating. MS purposefully oversized the cooling fan and the air intake on top. Unless you have something sitting directly on top of the XB1, it should never overheat. I had a few phat 360s die on me. I think m$ fixed the overheating issue with the xb1 though. Factory assembly defect. They just didn't put enough paste on and it has pockets in it. If it's not under warranty then tear it down, go to radio shack, get some arctic silver. Clean the holy hell out of the cpu first then apply an even coat of arctic silver and you're good to go. I always clean my ps4 out with airduster. Once a month or so. Its a good habit to get in to.

Where do you keep you Xbox? If it's crammed into a tiny shelf on a tv stand, it won't get enough cool air to circulate. If at all possible set it in the open, but not on the ground where it will suck in dust/ cat hair, etc.
-
Contact microsoft, they will likely ask you to send it in and they will fix it, probably just got a random faulty piece, it is bound to happen with mass production.

4 RepliesXbox i gay so many problem. Go grab ps4

4 RepliesYou'd think Microsoft would have learned something from the 360. I remember when they kept overheating and frying.
-
Might need to dust out the system...check your fans, or check your plug could be messing up.
-
Thats why. A lot of day one xboxes are takin a shit now. Do u got the warranty?

I haven't turned off my Xbox in a week or so and I've even kept it on for a month before and it's never had problems.

I had a power brick that shut off after an hour or two of gaming. Light on the brick went out console shut down. It was a faulty power brick which ms swapped over on the warranty.
-
It's designed to watch tv...and it's oversized for cooling purposes....contact Microsoft I'm sure they will help. Other than that I've left nice on for 3 days straight and it was all good.

Happened to me but I bought an extended warranty with gamestop. Took it back and problem solved.

I have not had this problem. When I first got horizon 2 I would play that for hours with no overheating problems. Haven't played recently. Mostly stream twitch (Xbox has the past broadcasts... GET ON IT SHUHEI!)
