My suggestion would be not to transfer anything you value or that is hard to get via random drops, I will use the app to transfer materials and strange coins and that sort of thing, but I go to the tower to transfer any weapons I want on a different character, it is more time consuming but it's also safer, if you are going to transfer weapons, don't do it while in transit, on loading screens or if you are dead, less chance of something going wrong then
