I am usually a PvP player most of the time. The game play is fun, and the lack of predictability in my opponents is a major factor for me.
Yesterday, however, I finally got to try my hand at the Raids from start to finish. They were awesome to say the least! All the puzzle solving was very fun, and the strategy and teamwork needed to finish was reminiscent of my PvP experience.
The major thing that helped me get into the Raids was the team I was with. I don't remember their names, but they got rid of all of my excuses. As soon as I told them I didn't know what I was doing (relic, portals, oracles), they had me on the relic every time, going into portals every time. It was intimidating at first, but after doing all the relic handling for the whole raid, I am confident enough to run the relic whenever.
So if I could sum this all up, it would be to say Thank you. Thank you to all the PLAYERS who have the Patience and Time to help others learn. It would be easier and save more time to boot inexperienced players, but you take the time to teach. You all are the real Guardians.
Thank You!
Because some people keep inquiring, my drops were: FATEBRINGER, Corrective Measure, and Timebreaker Sparrow. The rest was shards. I also found the players that helped me in my recent raid parties, with the help from a few of you!

Congrats, when you run thru Crotas End make sure you do it legit. I was forced into the cheese way my first time and it ruined my experience and now I hate doing Crotas End.

Bump!
-
bump. this was good post man, glad to see players experience this. it's always good helping out people for their first time.
-
Fatebringer and corrective measure! Nice job.
-
I take it you've done both raids by now, I hate Crota, it's just a mess of a raid, but VoG is a real raid, from start to finish you feel the challenge, plus it still has an exotic chest.
-
I wish I had luck like that to get a good group. I get lots of whiny kids and teens that think you better be the best at it or else they scream and cry. Even after I told them I had never done a raid and they said that was fine.
-
Nice man. Its deffinitly good you did big first. Its THE raid if you know what I mean. The first time I did vog was like nothing I've done in life before. And I got tlw first run. Congrats on the fatebringer and corrective measures . That mg is sick in pvp

Teaching people to raid is fun, as a sword bearer I get a lot of joy from teaching people how to run sword.
-
Grats man! Vog is a blast and I do miss doing it.

Congratulations on the completion. I just got my first Fatebringer as well, and it is insane. I hope you enjoy it. Add me if you're on xbox one and we could do Crota together.

That's awsome to hear:)

What console?

Awesome to hear something positive here. Glad your exp went well. Fatebringer is a great weapon, Corrective is nice too. PVP wise Corrective mows over it was third to The Swarm and Zombie Apocalypse when the game first came out Fatebringer does pretty well in the crucible. Keep up the raids and best of luck guardian.

Fatebringer first time????
-
Beginners luck on the Fatebringer. Nice haul! Raiding can be intimidating at first but after a few it's like second nature, especially if you get a chance to use the relics which many players don't always get to experience.
-
Refreshing post, Raiding is fun if you have a good team!
-
Hands down best topic on this forum!!
-
Im happy to hear that people are still helping each other out. I love helping rookies in the raid
-
That's so cool dude. Glad you're getting into the endgame stuff. Add me if you ever wanna raid, I'm on Xbox one
-
It's fun running people through their first raids. I was in your shoes back in the day and found several nice players who helped me out as well. On the flip side, I boot assholes who join from the forums when we need extras. I don't waste my time with jerks.
-
Great post. The reason I've hardly run any raids is through fear of letting the side down through inexperience. It's good to see that there are good folk out there willing to show others the ropes.
-
Welcome to amazing end-game world of raiding!! Glad to have u
-
Fatebringer on your first raid? You lucky bastard! *evil glare* Congrats man, glad you enjoyed it. There are some decent, helpful people out there, they can just be a little on the rare side sometimes. When you find them, friend them quick!
-
You ran relic for your first time ever on Hard Templar? Dang your team was patient!

Everyone has to have a first time, and hopefully, players with experience will see this and take it upon themselves to be the excellent teachers that they may not have had. :) A wonderful post, I'm sure the fire team who aided you will see this and appreciate your gratitude - something that many who receive aid nowadays simply do not convey.
