So, Bungie once again misled us. As you can see from the video, hardlight took over a 6% nerf in PvE and depending on your muzzle up to a 9% effective nerf in PvP. Suros regime is looking at almost a 14% effective nerf across the board.
That's a hell of a lot more than 2.5%. The only rationalization I can see for this was that all your defenders would say both before and after that it was only 2.5%. Before I couldn't really argue. Now though, that number is just a flat out lie.
If you wanted to effectively flip pulse rifle and auto rifle damage, well you had the right to do so and you did. But could you at least be adult enough to be honest about the real numbers?
Edit: Abyss Defiant was doing 348 headshots to tier one enemies, and now it's 326 which is a 6.3% decrease. Anyone have numbers for Necrochasm?
I'm getting different reports that seem to show that the low impact weapons got slapped with a 7% nerf. Any actual numbers appreciated since we know Bungie won't bother.
Edit 2: For the sake of laziness, this is my thread for today's open house thing in 15 minutes.
Edit 3: Weapon damage in PvP
Thanks to Superbustamove for bringing this to my attention and exxtrooper for actually compiling the data. This is a spreadsheet of damage in PvP pre and post patch. Be warned that it's PvP so rounding errors can make nerfs seem bigger or smaller than they are. Nevertheless the average isn't 2.5%.
Edit 4: Superbustamove also provided the original reddit post he found the spreadsheet at. Again this is mostly a PvP thread, but the info is still way more complete than anything we have had before.

Edited by BalanceAngel_9: 2/27/2015 10:19:52 PMWow bungie did lied but at least it's not that bad, for me at least. I just use every weapon in my inventory to test out the patch in PvP. I like the new patch. I did good before the patch now I do even better after the patch. I felt the changes and truthfully there good. Now the weapons don't make the player better anymore. The player now has to prove his skills with the weapon he chooses.

It's an AVERAGE 2.5%
-
I'll admit, it is more than a 2.5% debuff, I January working out how damage is calculated and created a spreadsheet that will calculate weapon damage just by putting in the name attack value you lvl and mob lvl and it worked to an error margin of 1%, put in the base damage modifier of 2.5% for auto rifles and got epilouge to do do 59 damage and it's going 57 in vog hard, that's a 8.3% drop...
-
These kind of changes are very common in games and I've learned from previous games not to get rid of anything I might want - certainly not going to dismantle an entire class of weapons if I think they suck cuz chances are it will flip flop in the future - just like what just happened here!
-
*2.5% reduction in damage PER SECOND The reduction in damage PER SHOT is just a function of the rate of fire.
-
You should be able to have fun in the game without OP auto rifles.
-
i like my autorifles, its my specialty. does this mean that pulse rifles are better than auto rifles? i have not got any pulse rifles in my storage just auto's, i have to now go search for pulse rifles now that ive read this. i have to now test which pulse rifles are good for me.

Hardlight was my fav gun till update now I use my red death

Edited by Blam417: 2/27/2015 8:44:18 PMBungie Devs said they were reducing damage 2.5% averaged across all auto rifles with slower fire rate auto rifles taking fore of a hit than high ROF autorifles. Suros is the slowest firing auto rifle. Edit: i originally though they said they were adjust rate of fire and damage, but after going back to read the dev notes they said that the average damage nerf would be 2.5% and that it may be more or less depending on the rate of fire of the auto rifle.

Bump for an explanation
-
I haven't seen any posts about pulse rifle buffs which are ridiculous. I don't have red death but bad juju basically has two strings of curses. One that's always active and one that stacks with the first (compared to itself pre patch). I feel bad using it but hell, they -blam!-ed over my mythoclast so i just use that now. Thanks bungie. Hard light is also useless which i found really fun and challenging to use.

I had run ins with 2 different Thorn users in different games a couple days ago. My Suros Regime at medium range nailing headshots was ONLY able to deplete their shields before they killed me. I jumped on Destiny today for 5 minutes to buy the Heart of the Praxic Fire from Xur. And that will be all the time that I spend on Destiny until they fix it. This update wasn't to balance PvP weapons. This update was to force people to change weapons to be competitive.

I got my "Grim Citizen 3" in a engram drop. The first time I shot it, I immediately thought WOW this is how an auto rifle is supposed to shoot. I quickly then realized that it didn't have quite enough PEW PEW for PVE. So I kept it for PVP and was loving it.. But now it's useless for even PVP. T hank's Bungie!.. Obviously you want to help me solve my lack of vault space by deleting all my classic AR's ..

Bump... F u bungie for misleading us
-
My shadow price used to hit 27 on critical in pvp, now its 23. Thats around 18.5% reduction!
-
I personally haven't noticed any changes to shotguns and handcannons in Pvp
-
I'm honestly surprised they haven't been slapped with a lawsuit yet lol Gearbox was sued for making a game look prettier than it actually did, Bungie has mislead their buyers since the game was announced ha
-
They needed to just nerf all pve hp values so crucible tuning didn't matter. Crucible needs to be fair so let them work on it until it's better
-
None of these numbered mean anything without specifying a range . ARs were to get a 2.5% debuff, but also a steeper range drop-off. So the larger numbers are likely due to the combined effect of both.
-
it seems hard light lost over 15 points per round on my own test.
-
ARs are at pre buff pulserifles now, they arent worth using anymore imo, my vanquisher is just sht tier now, ttk is far below that of any pulserifle/handcannon wich is just sad
-
The nerf was to base damage. There are so many weapon modifiers and damage levels that the 2.5 % actually made a bigger difference. 34% off the base damage of the mythclast took more than half the damage off

Sounds like they put that decrease way before the damage calculators rather than after all the other math. Now you get a 10% decrease.
