The truth behind the "2.5%" nerf.

So, Bungie once again misled us. As you can see from the video, hardlight took over a 6% nerf in PvE and depending on your muzzle up to a 9% effective nerf in PvP. Suros regime is looking at almost a 14% effective nerf across the board. That's a hell of a lot more than 2.5%. The only rationalization I can see for this was that all your defenders would say both before and after that it was only 2.5%. Before I couldn't really argue. Now though, that number is just a flat out lie. If you wanted to effectively flip pulse rifle and auto rifle damage, well you had the right to do so and you did. But could you at least be adult enough to be honest about the real numbers? Edit: Abyss Defiant was doing 348 headshots to tier one enemies, and now it's 326 which is a 6.3% decrease. Anyone have numbers for Necrochasm? I'm getting different reports that seem to show that the low impact weapons got slapped with a 7% nerf. Any actual numbers appreciated since we know Bungie won't bother. Edit 2: For the sake of laziness, this is my thread for today's open house thing in 15 minutes. This is a spreadsheet of damage in PvP pre and post patch. Be warned that it's PvP so rounding errors can make nerfs seem bigger or smaller than they are. Nevertheless the average isn't 2.5%.     OK Bungie, so how do I get the 2 Red Deaths back that I dismantled last year because they were such a POS? You see that's the problem with changing the DPS so dramatically this deep into a game's life cycle. Those who have been with the game since the Beta have developed their choice in weapons based on performance and play style, and we kept those that worked and dismantled others that didn't. Finally got a Hard Light not long ago. Dutifully ranked it up and learned how to use it. Now it's a POS. That really sucks...

    • I play a shitload of pvp and these nerfs especially on the auto rifle are retarded and unwanted by a majority of players. Had they brought the ttk on the pulse rifles to match other weapons itd be fine...but they clearly made them the preferred choice of gun. Only shitty pvp players ask for buffs/nerfs on weapons. Red death is easily the new suros and frankly its much better due to the instant heal.

      Max rof autos weren't touched damage wise, but even factoring that into the average it still doesn't bring the average nerf down to 2.5%. Try more like 10.96%. Edit: Also, max rof autos were trash that no one used before anyway, so bringing the rest of them down to their level is just asinine.

      • talk about a bunch of incompetent ass holes running things they have terabits of data on weapons their usage & damage all this data shows that pulse rifles need a huge improvement shotguns are only used in the crucible " due to highly restrictive maps & forced tactics " and auto rifles are or as of 1.1.1 where the # 1 weapon in both pve & pvp so instead of doing the smart thing ( boosting both damage & impact of pules rifles & adjusting shotgun true effective range & damage ) ..... what do these shitheads do but drastically improve pulse rifles in the damage category and destroy auto rifles & hand cannons in the process I am convinced these asswipes can not walk & chew gum at the same time

              • Yeah, I'm tired of this crap from Bungie. I'm done. I used to enjoy both PvE and PvP. After the Nerf of auto rifles I am done. The game is no longer enjoyable. All they had to do was boost the damage to pulse rifles and fix the too long of range issue on the fusion rifle. There was absolutely no reason to Nerf the auto rifles. I like many other players had there preferred PvE and PvP weapons. Now my go to PvP suros is crap. Along with my vanquisher and for the people. Needless to say the game has stopped being enjoyable. I normally played at least 2 hours a day. Now it's no fun at all. I'm done Bungie. I'd say fix the auto rifles by getting rid of the Nerf, but it doesn't really matter anymore. Im done playing and worse Im done telling friends to buy the game and play.

              • Boycott PvP. BY FAR most people play PvE, The Adventure. Not mindless glorified video paint ball, the crucible. We PvE players Waaayyy outnumber pvp players. We can make a difference by not playing crucible and telling our friends to not play crucible. It's clear that Bungie is pathetically desperate to get more pvp players. They spend all of their energy trying to recruit players. If you don't want your favorite guns nerfed, Boycott crucible. Don't play it, ever. Your guns were nerfed because of crucible complaints. Everyone knows this. No one complains about OP guns in PvE. Because we like them. The PvP players Hate Bungies best guns. Don't let the minority dictate how this game is changed. Boycott the crucible. Don't play any PvP, ever.

                • I just wish all primary weapons had the same amount of damage per second. This way, it would all be due to pure skill. I can now find myself shooting at someone with a Suros and taking out half of their health before they turn around and kill me with a Bad Juju almost instantly.

                  What about hand canons? I'm still getting wrecked by Thorn and Last word from across maps! Still pretty long distances for the fusion rifles as well that they said they were fixing!

                  • I don't see why they nerf anything. Everyone who complains that guns are op have the option to get the same guns. The grind is fed by the hope to get a certain item, if all weapons are pretty much even across the board it would take to fun out of finally getting the weapon you hoped for
