Bungie no longer has any kind of excuse....
It was announced that Patch 5 for Dragon Age Inquisition has entered the Beta Phase and it is a SHINING beacon of how a developer is SUPPOSED to treat their community and how a developer is SUPPOSED to address community feedback.
Dragon Age has been out for LESS time than Destiny.
Yet the forums have been alight with unanimous requests for certain things.
[b][u]The Community asked Bioware to bring back "The Black Emporium" from Dragon Age 2.[/u][/b]
Why?
Simply put The Black Emporium was a black market for the player to get special gear and and other items for their character and people wanted to see a return of such a place.
Bioware's response?

They are gonna add it to the game in Patch 5.

Why?
The lighting in the Character creator can't 100% show how a character would look in the countless different lighting situations the game has. People (myself) included found a flaw or two in their character in certain lightings and had no way of fixing it.
Bioware's response?

There was no storage chest so you had to carry everything on you at all times. On top of that there was no way to share gear between your characters.
Bioware's Response?

ALL OF THIS IS BEING ADDED FOR FREE AND IS BEING DONE AT THE REQUEST OF THE COMMUNITY
That is not EVEN counting the patches that has come before this one that has fixed countless bugs and balanced numerous abilities.
THIS is how a Developer is meant to treat and listen to their community.
THIS is how a Developer is meant to support the game when they get things wrong.
To the people who constantly feel the need to defend Bungie and the way they treat this game and their community.
To the people who constantly say "Programming these kinds of things takes time!"
Where is that logic in this situation?
Bioware has a smaller overall team working on Dragon Age.
Smaller overall community for Dragon Age
Smaller overall Budget for Dragon Age
Dragon Age has been out for LESS time
Dragon Age Sold alot less than Destiny.
Yet they have no problem pumping out patches and fixes that their community wants and that their game needs.
What is your excuse Bungie?
You have no shortage of community feedback yet you seem completely blind to our existence.
We already HAVE a storage system and simply want more space. Bioware are going to add a storage space FROM SCRATCH and have had LESS time to do it.
There are still bugs in the VoG that has existed for the LENGTH of the game, and yet you still have not fixed them.
THIS is NOT how a Developer is meant to treat and listen to their community.
THIS is NOT how a Developer is meant to support the game when they get things wrong.
So I will ask again.
Whats your excuse Bungie?

6 RepliesOne thing you'll notice, is bungie doesn't care. I'll repeat for all the fanboys lost in time like the vexs 321 max attack. They do NOT care. Everyone seems to have this idea, that Destiny can be forgiven for its shit just because Destiny 2 is rolling out some time. THAT DOESNT MATTER. "but Destiny 2 will surely have better less buggy raids" THAT DOES NOT MATTER. the promise of a sequel out doing the 1st sounds fine. But if you really think about it, with a game that has updates that can change game elements, then they can implement things we ask for. See they don't listen to requests on Destiny 1 because people say "it'll be in Destiny 2" But that does not justify allowing a community to turn on itself and such. We shouldn't have to say things like "what do you expect of bungie?" WE SHOULD NOT have to say things like that about a company that revolutionized with halo. The idea of Destiny was to out do their previous title, but many people are wishing they'd just go back to halo. Because it seems Destiny is something they cannot get right. And when your game is receiving many negative feedback ratings from youtubers then your game has failed. I love destiny. The aesthetics alone are amazing. The design of exotic weapons, the light level system is unique. But the RNG, Raid bugs... It's toxifying. And beyond horrific. They had so much time to make this game. And it isn't Solely, bungies fault. Activision and their shitty marketing tactics are also to blame. Obviously they saw an oppurtunity to make a -blam!- ton of money by cutting content then reselling it at dlc price. And obviously they did that because they knew at launch they would be the only triple A game to come out when it did. Therefore running unapposed they felt their title could sell with a fraction of content. If bungie didn't sign with Activision, this game would be DRASTICALLY different content wise. And we'd have more stuff to do. But because bungie is signed for 10 years with Activision, they get half the rights to bungies game. So that means that bungie can't implement something unless also approved by the game publisher, and if they don't agree, chances are it won't be added. It's already confirmed that Destiny Is going to be annual. I think my main concern is, what happens to Destiny after 10 years? Bungies big game, the one they dreamed to make, just chopped up. Sold, and treated like another call of duty. In 10 years, there will be no more recreations of Destiny. And bungie will hopefully have learned their lesson about signing with a company just to make money.

Well put, but you have answered the point. Dragon Age is smaller in many ways, so they want to make the game right. BungAct are much bigger and have made more than enough money from Destiny - so why care what we think? Its a damn shame and your points are utterly valid, but they just don't......I don't know. They care, but about the wrong things. I would love to be a fly on the wall for the dev meetings. I think its one big experiment as to how far you can push your customer base.

To all you fanboys, you can get a very important lesson from the OP's post, because all that is said is true, and Bungie is not the Bungie we once knew and probably NEVER will be. It's sad to see probably one of the best game developers get sucked into this greedy disease in games now adays.

1 ReplyThis is why I love Bioware and the Dragon Age and Mass Effect franchises. Despite the ME3 ending snafu, Bioware has been pretty solid about content patches, bug fixes, and such for all their games. Their DLC, while not always [i]worth[/i] the amount of money you spend on it, at least provides far more value than Destiny. You get fully voice acted cut scenes, weapons, characters, etc To this day, I still play KotoR on my iPhone, a testament to the gameplay and story telling

I really thought bungie was a top dev.I heard Xbox people rave about them for years..I can tell you that I have seen great devs..(naughty dog) they know how to get stuff fixed and answer the fans..bungie is terrible at this..they are a average company to me that would be broke if activision wasn't bank rolling them.
