Just be a regular visitor and you'll soon learn people and their particular ways.
Those of us who were around when groups were actually decent probably know each other better because of them, but these days groups seem to be glorified Facebook walls.
Scratch that, these days these forums as a whole seem to be a glorified Facebook wall.

Knowledge takes time. You'll get to know most well-known posters these days from their 'signature styles', like how one might permanently post in all capitals, or they might only post in the third person, those kinds of things, or they only post about certain topics etc. There's no special club people go to to get to know each other.
