Does K/D truly make a better player?
I see a lot of these "my K/D is better" post in threads especially when it's a troll war. I noticed a lot of these high K/D players are campers who tend to play only control. Now I have no problem with protecting a point but I am noticing a pattern. My play style is passive/aggressive and that is reflected in my offensive and defensive stats which are about even. I simply go to were the fighting is. My k/d is not great but I'm sick of campers claiming their greatness. If your defensive kills are double your offensive kills that's fine but anyone can sit back and wait while the skilled do the hard work.

1 ReplyNot really because of how casual destiny is as a game. A good k/d just gives you credibility when your trying to make a point in the forums concerning crucible.

1 ReplyI say good k/d is an indicator of a good player but not a cause. I'd say that score is more important and that normally high scores (6000+ in control) means that k/d is also high. If you get what I'm saying lol

My defensive kills are higher cause if we have a and b or b and c, I'm not going to be like the rest of the spazzes on my team and go chase down the last flag when we should be focusing on defending the two we have. If you're doing it right you should have way more defensive kills. Cause you should only need a couple of offensive ones to take a point and you should be able to defend it for much longer

1 ReplyIf you have 5-10 captures a game then no your kd isn't as important, but for all game modes on destiny it's pretty crucial for most of your team to have a positive kd

1 ReplyPlaying conservatively will net you a bigger kd Playing agressive MIGHT get you a worse kd, but does not mean you are a worse player I like to play agressive and I try stuff out which is why my kd is not high, but I can hold my ground with every class and most guns Just dropping people with a vex while I hang back is just not fun to me

1 ReplyIf it did mean something, I'd say the only thing that matters if it's above or below a 1. I personally just kind of do whatever and almost always have a 1+ k/d. The only time I don't is when it's like a team of all one class, there's like 5 of them in a party, or they're all using fusion rifles. Crucible is also possibly the worst PvP I've played, so I personally don't think K/D in it means shit.

2 RepliesI'm more of a defensive type since I use a sniper rifle, so I don't have a strong short range weapon like a shotgun(my primary is a HC). I'm often as of now getting over 2kd, because I try my best to not die, I don't like the aggressive type since if you die, you give them points, and as long as you know how to rush well without dying, then why the hell not. As others said, I believe it matters, I'm just not such an elitist. If you know how to wield a gun and think in a game, you're welcomed. Those who just run and die most of the time, I have no idea what's wrong with them. Oh and to point out, Sniper =/= Camper. All these fellas want to find excuses to see their playstyle the best.

1 Replybounties and crucible marks make k/d worthless. its either pushed down because youre getting sniper headshots or actively trying for post mortem kills, or its being boosted by pve players coming into the crucible for the sake of marks and bounties while having no idea what to use or how to nagivate maps properly when a ranked playlist comes in with a mmr system THEN a k/d will mean something

1 ReplyK/d does matter to an extent. I have about a 1.5 but i usually score more than my friend who will go 2-3 every game. You have to look at everything not just k/d. Win loss ratio, overall average position each match (both allied team and overall), types of kills such as precision kills, and a variety of other factors such as k/a/d. People just like to brag but some of the best teams have people with a 1 k/d but they work well together.

1 ReplyThere's another Stat called combat rating that is a far better showing of your skill level, as it combines all multiplayer, not just Control. Look for it while using a computer. I've yet to see it via the mobile site.

1 ReplyI don't think so. Depends on your play style I like to go in guns a blazing so my kd suffers. Some like to camp and kd soars. Then there is is that small percentage of peeps that are just sick as hell in pvp

1 ReplyWell in this game yeah, all the modes are tdm variants with a small but almost pointless objective. Now say a game like halo and cod with capture the flag then no kd doesn't matter too much in something like that.
