Funnily enough I didn't, I drove the rest of the way home like that. I first put it in neutral after I realized that accelerator was stuck. (It wasn't apparent because I had thought that my pedal had simply snapped as it became completely loose and was just dangling there.) After I didn't start to slow down I popped it I to neutral pulled over and turned the car off. I tried diagnosing the problem there bit didn't really know what to look for as my pedal was just broken not jammed or anything like that. My phone being dead at the time and it being 4am left me pretty stranded so I just turned the car back on and proceeded the rest of the way home with no control over the acceleration. Thankfully it was late so no other cars on the road and I wasn't very far from home. Turns out a washer broke on the mechanism that holds the cable to the acceleration and since it broke while I was acceleration it just stayed in that position. The acceleration wasn't wide open though so I was able to control the car still with relative ease.
