Minor tweeks that could really make Destiny much more enjoyable

Bungie, although there have been moments when your devs seriously needed to get slapped, I must admit I enjoy your game. I do. However, it is hard to deny how stale your game gets after a while. Whether we max our marks, get tired of killing Rockets McDickface on Mars, or are bored to tears with the crucible, eventually the monotony gets to [some of] us. Not only that, but staring at my nameless Guardian and seeing him as nothing more than a 32 sprite of every other 32 Hunter in the tower is disenfranchising. How are we expected to "Become Legend" when we all look the same? Or did you guys mean "Become Legion" o_0 Anyway, here are a few concepts that might be beneficial for not only you, but also your consumer base. Some of these things have been discussed before in these forums: 1.) Our Ships When I first started playing Destiny, I was bothered by the fact that our ships are nothing more than glorified loading screens. Coming from titles like Dust 514 and Warframe I was anticipating our ships being crucial to our preparedness and combat effectiveness. Think about it in terms of the universe you created: where do our Guardians sleep? Where do they eat? Where is the more rational place they would store all their stuff? ON THE SHIP. THE FIX I would say it is unlikely that you can fix the first issue (that our ships do not feel like housing and transport), but you could make our vaults accessible from our ships. You could also make the ships upgradable via offering items that increase vault space (make the mission rewards or something). That alone would be a massive step in the right direction. 2.) Our Guardians I love the Hunter class - my favorite class by far. I have played every class (maxed them all for the achievements) but I can say that the Hunter class ruined the Titan and Warlock for me (to the point where I just have 2 Hunters xD). But who is my Hunter? He has no name - he is just some nameless guy that once and a while runs to the tower to get his stuff and maybe pick up a Bounty or two. And not only is he nameless, but he is also faceless 99% of the time. I spent actual time trying to make him unique (as I could with the options available), but what I did customize for him is limited to the neck upwards, and that is only seen when making a Tower run. Lastly, I am a 32. My nameless, mostly faceless Guardian looks like a carbon copy of every other 32 Hunter I see. It is dull. It is bland. It is cheap vanilla ice cream. I don't want to be vanilla. I don't want you to think we are all ok with being vanilla. We want to be unique. We want to stand out. We want to get crazy with our Guardians appearance. Let us. THE FIX At this point naming our Guardians is probably a no-go, simply because you have already designated our tags as basically the characters name. Not much to do there... HOWEVER, you can make our custimizable appearance mean something via simply offering to have our helmet not be seen. Bam. Done. We still wear the helmet, and get the benefits of said helmet, but we, and others, can see our faces. Also, you can make an NPC in the tower give us plastic surgery if we want for whatever currency you want. We can all be snowflakes! Next, you can give us the option to customize our armor's appearance. Have it cost something (Motes maybe?) just like with the perk rolls you had on the IB weps: pay to have your armor appearance be different while maintaining the original stats. Don't like that raid chest piece? No biggy - pay [INSERT NPC HERE] x amount of [INSERT CURRENCY HERE] and viola! Armor appearance altered to what you prefer instead of looking like every other 32 in the tower. You could take it a step further and allow us to re-roll the perks on the armor's as well, set up the color schema the way we prefer, change the stats over to reinforce our preferred playstyle - make this armor unique to the individual instead of having a 1 size fits all paradigm. Lastly, the clan tag is great and everything, but we only see it in orbit. Why not give clans the option to make their own clan emblems that they can then attach to their characters armor? Much like the Dead Orbit insignia is pasted on the helmets, we could have our respective clan emblems painted on our Guardians. All this adds levels of depth to your character instead of just changing a shader or emblem. 3.) Activities Destiny has quite a bit to offer in terms of activities to participate in - Strikes, Crucible, Raids, Patrols, Story - no doubt there is a lot going on. However, Patrols get old quick, the Story is rarely the go-to destination for people (unless they are farming glimmer on Mars or doing Daily mission), and Raids can only be done once per character per week (well, you can do it more, but you won't get anything out of it...). Sure the strikes and crucible can be played over and over, but often I get annoyed watching my ship fly into the same strike repeatedly, and the PvP is still hit or miss regarding latency (once and a while I will get a match that is perfect, but more often than not I will have a few enemies or allies glitching all over the damn map...). Point is, after months of doing the same strikes/raids/crucible maps, a change of pace might be nice. THE FIX Although your introduction to Firefight in ODST was a bit clunky IMO, you guys seriously fine tuned that game type in Reach. I thoroughly enjoyed not only the gameplay and mechanics, but the overall concept: Your team taking on waves and waves and waves of enemies. You could really get creative with this, too - make it progressively challenging the more waves you hit. Every 10 waves introduce a handicap on the Guardians, or give the enemies a buff. Every 10 waves give everyone a loot roll, and then give them the option to either go for another 10 waves for another loot roll, or leave the game right there. If your team wipes, you lose all your loot and need to start from scratch. And make the higher the waves, the better the loot - waves 1 - 10 give common or uncommon drops. Waves 20 - 40 give rares. Waves 50+ give legendaries, with a percentage of obtaining an exotic increasing as you go higher still. This wouldn't be your standard puzzle + combat you like with the raids, nor would it be a team moving throughout a level for an objective like strikes. This would be straight up survivability, and you could watch and rank the teams that get the farthest. It could add a whole new level to the game, both competitively and cooperatively. Those are just my suggestions. Like I said, some of them have been kicking around in these forums for a while. TL:DR? Good for you, now post your hate-filled comment below and watch me ignore you. Cheers.
