If you haven't already, [i]The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy[/i] "series" is really an astonishingly fun read, and I'd be happy to loan my copy if anyone wants to borrow it. It would probably go to Battlefield 3 because I have spent so much more time on it, but I can't commit to that answer because I had so much more fun with Portal 2. I think something about actually dying in a game was so stunningly new to me, and the story behind my death was so chaotic and real, it has always struck me as a well placed and well timed event. This was topped by Red Dead's death scene, but CoD4 did it first, so I have give it credit. I don't know why, but the camaraderie of that moment reminded me of how close I am with my friends in real life. Why do you play games?[/quote] The ability to submerge myself in a completely different universe is so painstakingly fun, so amazingly thrilling that I will always clammier for more. Living life in the shoes of Master Chief made me feel invincible and important, running the streets as Faith in Mirrors edge made my heart race with terror. Popping heads in Gears of War satisfied my competitive longings, and winning a game in Call of Duty 4 quelled my anger (or sometimes that game fueled it.) Games are a part of my life, and it is wonderful game companies like Bungie that make me enjoy playing more and more every time.
