Xur Upgrades
Being moderately new to the Destiny community, I'm not sure what the point of purchasing upgrades from Xur is. What are they? What do they do?

If you get an exotic gun that has a max of 300 attack, or a exotic armour with a max of 30 light, then you can wait for Xur to come and hopefully sell that item. Then you can purchase it and have a max of 331 attack and armour with 36 light.DONT buy the upgrade if it is your item already has a max of 331 attack or 36 light. Before the dark below DLC was released, everything had a max damage of 300 and a max a max light level of 30.
