Hard Mode too hard?
Has bungie gone to far to make this hard mode "hard"? The no chalice, wizards, guardians under leveled, and auto enraged at 15% health. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying its impossible; people have already completed it. For me personally the VoG and CE normal was fun. It still had a bit of a challenge and good rewards. But crota hard seems to much for a kinda crap reward. Guardians no longer need to complete the hard mode to receive all the raid gear and the primary weapons are ok. I can already imagine they will be glitched in some way were perks do do what they should and bungie will never fix them. Personally i have completed tons of VoG runs and i still don't have all the weapons. My rng luck is horrible ( especially since i don't buy weapons from Xur and have yet to receive a ghorn when i have every other exotic in the game) and the tedious work to beat crota doesn't seem worth it. I have also noticed that most people can't handle being in a team or just don't work well in a team (at least everyone I've attempted it with).
Edit 1:yeah yeah yeah i know its called hard mode for a reason, im mad not illiterate. And im not saying its impossible, It just isnt as fun anymore and more tedious than id like. And for people telling me im just complaining because i want it handed to me just no. Ive put close to a thousand hours into the game. I enjoy the game and have spent hundreds of hours grinding for things. Im just exhausted from having shitty rng luck.

They didn't add any more "challenging" or fun aspects. They just added all kinds of stupid hard shit.
I don't find this fun, it's just frustrating. Once I have the guns I want, I never want to do this again.

This is a great point.
We go back now and play VOG for fun, because it's a well put together mission, which if the stars aligned and Bungies P2 MX servers and 52k dial up connection are up to it is a whole lot of fun.
Nothing about the CE is fun it's just there.

I agree. CE was cool at first but now it's a boring chore and I don't look forward to weekly resets as much (especially since the NightFall became MaterialsFall). VoG is a lot more fun. CE felt rushed, the Hard Mode of it feels rushed, TDB exotics and vendor legendaries feel rushed....everything about Destiny feels like they didn't test things out before putting them in. Love the game. Still expect better.

My clan and I beat it last night for the first time, and we found it to be lots of fun. Looks like there is a lot of potential to get locked into one of those really frustrating fail cycles. But we found it super intense and enjoyable.

3 RepliesI really think they whittled the Crota fight down to luck, and just pure frustration. The rest of the raid seemed fine, but removing key elements from the Crota fight is just ridiculous. I can see adding in some more difficult enemies, such as the wizard, to the Crota fight, but taking away the chalice was unnecessary.

My team and I have beaten it twice already and Bungie hit it spot on with the difficulty. Everything else in this game has been way to easy thus far. I'm glad they made the "Hard Raid" actually difficult to complete. Trust me once you beat it you will understand. You need to play smart, communicate, and have a good strategy to succeed. I hope they make all future raids the same way. The raid should be the most challenging activity in the game. It is not meant to be completed by the casual gamer. I'm sure many other will agree.

it isn't for casuals. You need to know the routine and mechanics if the fight inside and out, not to mention switching armour and skill trees to maximise orbs and health regen (something causals just don't do). Its challenging but not too hard if you a good and understand the how the game works and have a good communicating team

The rewards aren't worth the frustration and time, I can see it being easy with a legit fire team but I don't have one and I go back to 50 hour works weeks come Monday after 3 months off that's why if you check my stats I have so much time, I feel I'm more then capable to defeat Crota but it's just taken the fun out of the game for me being so difficult you have to be perfect. I think a Destiny hiatus is in order until the next expansion. Crota hard just isn't fun and to be rewarded with a hand cannon or scout rifle that I really don't need to complete anything else in the game it's just not worth it. I'll run the first three sections on hard and get more materials then Help guys take down Crota on normal to save myself time. Congrats to the guys that can take him down on Hard you've got skill and good fire teams to go with it! Probably a Gally too! That I haven't managed to score in my almost 700 hours of gameplay haha ffffuuuuuu RNGeeZus

Met a great bunch today. We got crota done easy. And done it from start and carried a 30 all the way to crota. It isnt that hard once you know the routine. Just got to have communication.

I just think the primaries aren't amazing enough for all the effort you need to put in for Crota.

Add in swords vanishing and Crota not kneeling after giving him a 4x Wolfpack round diet. Plus being a whole level under the encounter. A knight going from being 1 hit killed, to being 7-8 hit killed is a massive jump in damage scaling. Which is just artificial difficulty. Same with the chalice between difficulties that crota suddenly does not have. Why even have it in the normal raid? Very teamwork and coordination required fight. My favorite part is the teamwork, ingenuity, and lighting up the ogres like the Marianas turkey shoot. Since I'm looking at a ghost while crota is dying. Giving little to no information for being prepared, while limiting vault space just isn't a good combination on treating your players, for such a loot dependent game. Sadistic really. The auto enrage isn't anything I haven't seen in other games. Ignore x dynamic and finish them. Looking forward to House of Wolves and the slim chance they actually do a cabal raid. Guardians need a mini-gun type heavy exotic.

1 ReplyThere are a lot of people trying hard mode that have no business doing hard mode. I went through 4 groups this morning with guys without heavy ammo synth, underleveled guns, crappy rockets without tracking. I was in one group and guys were using 307 truths without tracking to hit crota. I left before it started. The group I did it with all had maxed guns, gghorns (not necessary but helps) maxed snipers and everyone could play. Took 2 wipes and we got him. It's amazing how easy it is with a good team and how it's basically impossible with a crappy team.

2 RepliesI think it's beyond casual level. And beyond the VoG hard mode. Maybe we're already at that point where only the hard core followers are playing destiny so they made this for them. It's hard, but not impossible. I've beaten it and have the shader. Not too sure what they should do with it. You need some challenges in destiny so I guess just keep it the way it is....even though it is above the majority of destiny's players.

I'd rather have a fun and challenging raid than a "I want to get this done as quickly as possible cause this is beyond annoying" raid. Getting the loot at the end is fun after the wiping and everyone in the fireteam cursing the other person out.

3 RepliesI just think it's an more of an unit cohesion issue. I don't have a set group I run with and use reddit quite a bit. Sometimes the groups work well together, sometime it doesn't. That's on normal, So i'd imagine the same for Hard mode as well. I need shards for 32 then I'll make an attempt and let you know.

Yes it's hard (for NOW) but in a few weeks it will be just like VoG on hard. The reason it's harder besides the fact it's just came out is that to many people were complaining VoG on hard was to easy
