Did not know where else to put this...

I have recently read several articles where Bungie has shown awesome support to several people who have suffered traumatic brain injuries. I tried calling Bungie rather than putting this here on the forum, but the message basically tells you to use the forum rather than the phones...so anyway: I am a Navy EOD Tech who is soon to be medically retired. I have suffered multiple traumatic brain injuries and have been diagnosed with severe PTSD. Over the last seven months, I have basically exhausted the Navy Medical System's ability to provide care and treatment for my severe TBIs. While Multiple Traumatic Brain Injuries are certainly not a new type of injury, they are little understood by current Neurologists within the Naval Medical System. I suffer from post concussive migraines, nose bleeds, full body tremors, insomnia x4 years, impulse control issues, severe anxiety, severe panic attacks, continuing psychotic episodes and PTSD on top of all that. In addition to the therapies and the endless pills that I receive from my treatment team, it was suggested that I try to utilize some video game type software to help with my TBIs. I downloaded Luminosity but quickly became frustrated with it's pacing and child like interface. My wife (my biggest advocate since I got back from Afghan) read about how Eric had seen some cognitive improvement from playing Destiny. So, I have been playing Destiny myself. Usually, I just sit in a dark room with the sound off and just play the game. It is extremely therapeutic for me. Unfortunately, or fortunately - guess it depends on your point of view, I do not have any real friends on the network. I actually enjoy just playing the game on my own, at my own pace. That is definitely something that I truly enjoy about Destiny, it is so comprehensive, but you can still play it on your own. You don't have to have a big group of people in order to play. My wife and I have found a new type of treatment in California that is being offered to veterans for free. It is called Magnetic Resonance Therapy (MRT). The treatment is five weeks long and current patients are reporting symptom improvements of 75% or more on average. As bad as my symptoms are, I am not even allowed to drive. My wife has had to quit her job in order to chauffeur me to and from the hospital and basically anywhere I need to go. 75% symptom improvement would be a new lease on life for my family and I. So, what am I writing this for, right? What is the point? I would like to make a proposal to Bungie. As long as the veteran can get to the treatment center in California, the MRT treatment is free for the entire 5 weeks. My wife and I have already contacted the Fisher House and worked out a place to stay as well as plane tickets from our home in North Carolina to California and back. The only shortfalls we are coming up with is a rental car in California and funds for food. I would like to ask Bungie if they would be willing to be a sponsor in helping me get the MRT Treatment in California. I am more than willing to provide whatever substantiating information that anyone from Bungie would require. From my EOD Credentials to pertinent medical info that is appropriate for me to share. The bulk of the expenses are already taken care of, we are just looking for sponsor(s) to help us with the food and rental car funds to ensure that I can get this vitally important treatment. It is my wish that Bungie not only be willing to help me get this treatment, but also to help me in raising awareness for this "new" type of injury. Without proper awareness and education, more and more soldiers and sailors are going to exhaust the medical system and be at the end of their rope like I am.

I hear you brother. Do you have a website set up or a donation account at a bank? Lots of banks do them. We did one for my daughter after she was attacked. They are designed so all you have to do is go to Wells Fargo or Chase, give a name and make a donation. They put it into the account. I am willing to help, I don't have much, but I am Army Aviation and I care about all of my extended family in other branches. I am sure many other guardians would give $5 or $10. We can take care of our own if need be, guardian. Edit: They do usually require proof of need. You set a goal amount. Once that is reached they stop taking money. Prevents abuse and get rich quick scammers, etc.

    • Wow... I'm a vet that has exposure to radiation and has made me sterile, and you don't see me asking Bungie to make me babies. this seems a bit pathetic to have a "video game" company pay for your expenses. Bungie didn't make you have brain trauma, the military did. There are many vet opportunities out there. Your just trying to get something free out of bungies wallet. You deserve "the fake of all fools" exotic side arm that has a mag size of one, and a perk called "broken" perk makes weapon misfire and explode, causing misadventure... Not trying to be a douche, but - oh wait yeah I am... Pictures/Validation or it didn't happen.

That's what 10 bucks a meal, 3 times a day for you and the misses.60 Bucks total over 5 weeks would be about 580 in itself unless you prepared your own food eating out at misc. times then that's around 200 to 550 depending on what you eat bud. cars going to cost a grand in itself for renting. Gas in Cali is retarded expensive in itself so fuel economy would be your friend if it ever was. Is start or go fund or the donate account old boy was talking about.... I wish you luck in getting the help you need brother. Semper Fi

    • If you are in the navy how do you have enough time to play over 25 hours of destiny... That doesnt add up to me. And if you have PTSD i feel like u wouldnt play games about war. I dont know if im being too skeptical or not. Im just making sure you are telling the truth man. Not trying to be a douche. If you are being truthful then i thank you for your service.

So what do you spend your bonus (for EOD is pretty good), BAS, base pay and have you talked to your command? There are CFC charities that have millions in the bank that will be more than happy to help. Also talk to your Wounded Warrior coordinator at your post that will be your biggest advocate for everything you will need from medical care to rides to and from treatment also they will deal with your command if they try to ostracize you. Edit: also the military will pay in full your TDY for treatment, TBI is one the thing that the military health care focuses on treating properly, which will include rental car and lodging. I hope your not some troll trying to get money out of kind people, because most of what you are saying doesn't add up.
