Crucible Day 1 vs Crucible Day 97 - Crucible: Example of Failure in Game Development and Business Practices

When Destiny released the game had client based netcode for Crucible. If a player sees the opposing player take damage on their screen, that player takes damage. Result: Kill Trading. Ever had both first blood and post-mortem? I have. Now, the netcode relies on the server to tell the player's whether they took or dealt damage. This means less kill trading and if you aren't close to the server then your hits do not register. This doesn't work either. Here's the thing, this is a first person shooter, you have bullets that need to register a hit or miss and everything needs to happen very quickly. Client-based latency in an FPS is not valid, and definitely not in Destiny. Many have tried it, some have had moderate success - Destiny with Client-based latency was one of the worst failures in implementation I have ever encountered for a game anywhere near this desired level of quality. As a player from New Zealand, a full green latency bar means that on average 50% of clear direct hits in a fire fight with my hand cannon can miss the target - on occasion I have a match where it's nearer 90-95% but that is not often - - I save the video and re-watch it to confirm there is no room for error. This is because the player is no longer standing where I see him on the screen. This means the current implementation as well as client-side latency is INVALID. Crucible can be considered dysfunctional until a solution is implemented. Here's the solution: When the player first plays, it asks for their region and selects the closest server locations. The player can change this for faster match-making if their country/region is smaller. When match-making it will match within that region, for me that is Oceania so I would be matched to Australian and New Zealand players ONLY ON the Oceanic servers. It would not put me in US West with 160-190ms latency! For an FPS <30ms is required for any serious competition to take place, and <80ms to even be playable. Bungie told us this game had Crucible, many including myself bought it for this reason alone however I have rarely ever enjoyed playing it due to the initial client-side netcode and now the latency to the server that isn't close enough to me. Until this is solved, we have been scammed - I knew that Bungie themselves know this necessity and had faith that they would do as they have promised when they said that there is Crucible and did not say that New Zealanders and Australians are unable to play it in any serious manner. Let me make one thing very clear: Faster internet does not reduce distanced based latency! There is no solution on the player's end if they have high speed internet and encounter this, such as myself. If you are in America you probably will not experience this to such a degree. If you respond with your own experiences - state your country if you want to be taken seriously. This is a quick video example, I have better ones since it happens all the time but I can't stand PS4's video controls and would rather shoot myself in the foot. Look for his death delay also - he doesn't die until the shot I fire AFTER the kill shot, I am aware that I missed a shot or two myself and that my in air velocity can affect the fall-off but this happens regardless of movement or vertical velocity. Previously, I could snipe with a hand cannon while gliding at speed consistently head shotting, but now my game doesn't show where the enemy actually is :( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEsOrmt7xrE I just want to enjoy playing the game mode that convinced me to buy the game - right now it is nothing more than a way to get extra bounty XP and it breaks my heart because the gun-play is great. Bungie: You sold this to us, we paid for it and you haven't delivered an acceptable level of quality on the product/service. You're lucky the law is shaky with video games but after Watch Dogs, Titanfall, AC: Unity, and more than any of the others - Destiny, that will change.
