WTF does OP mean? Everyone says that. This is OP, That was OP... And what does NERFed mean? What did Bungie NERF?

I've been playing games for years and I also wondered what OP meant. The explanation was appreciated even though the attitude was not.
-
someone has never played any sort of online game there life.......
-
And what makes you come to that audatiously ignorant conclusion?
-
Probably because 'OP' (aka Overpowered) and 'Nerf' (as in 'Hit with the Nerf bat') are so commonly accepted vernacular that it equates to asking what 'lol' would mean. Oh, and plus 5 points for using "audaciously" on an online forum board, but -4 points for spelling it wrong... Love and hugs - Mach

what this guy said lol
-
Umm... op in this context means "over powered". Nerf means they scale back some of the damage or what ever was making it over powered. Thing Nerf darts compared to real ammo. Hence the name. Soft and squishe.

That sounds absurd. God look at what the Internet has done to our vocabulary
-
Welcome to the internet where everything is abbreviated. Everyday new words are chopped down to 2-3 letters.
-
Not vocabulary it's self. Just when pertaining to games. It's like shorthand for retards. I'm kidding. But it makes sense. Unless your talking about the post that "op" was mentioned in. Then it's original post/poster. Talking about a op weapon in a op. Sounds ok. Maybe. Idk. What?
