This comment of DeeJ's was a little overboard. What he should have said was that Destiny has multiplayer which could provide endless hours of entertainment to players. His claim - that Destiny never ends because it has online multiplayer - is about as meaningless as bragging that your game is bigger than Halo.
Please don't confuse the previous in any way as slandering Destiny. The game might very well be the only one I play for the next year. But they're making some pretty silly PR gaffs after a really well-managed campaign.

I think DeeJ might be wound a little tight right now. The guys at Bungie are likely living on Red Bull and crackers and haven't had a good poop in at least a week. Everything will be ok in 12 days.

LMFAO!

Edited by Razgriz: 8/29/2014 3:39:09 AMyou do know that come launch day Bungie has a team of Devs working 24/7 so that there will literally be something new to do everyday.
-
I sincerely hope it is the case that they're able to continuously pump out PvE content that can remain fresh and appealing for years to come, but that isn't what DeeJ said. He said Destiny has online multiplayer therefore never ends. It was just an ill-considered comment.

Edited by ShizRizGrizDiz: 8/29/2014 5:28:41 AMHello tangmcgame. I understand your concerns about Destinys content. What DeeJ was implying is, because the game is an always online persistent world, just like MMOs, theyll be dishing out new content regularly. This isnt your typical, example: Dragon Age game where once you beat it you never play it again. Look at it this way. Things that will always be there to do Strikes/Nightfalls/Bounties/Factions/Raids/ etc. Im sure they have it good on content wise because remember, theyve had the idea of Destiny for a really long time now. But due to technical limitations in the past, they were never able to start it until just 5 years ago. Im sure they have an entire room full of Destiny stuff just waiting to be released as part of regular future game updates, constantly giving you stuff to do. And dont forget, theyre 3 characters all with different play styles. This will offer even more gameplay time if you enjoy making multiple characters. Again, what DeeJ means is that with constant updates, nonetheless the Two expansions, there will be so much stuff to do that like an MMO, not everyone will ever be able to finish everything, if anyone at all. And not everyone has a lot of time on their hands so those people most definitely will never be able to finish. But as said, this game will be on a massive scale so you have nothing to worry about. Just look at it this way Destiny > Then literally any other console (ps and xbox) game out currently and probably will be for the next few years ahead. And dont forget Destiny 2 3 and 4, which i believe will all somehow be incorporated into One big massive game. Theyve said, Destiny is the biggest game weve ever made, whether that pertains to just this One, or the overall Destiny experience that is to come.

Any source for the context you're providing? Seems more like they're talking about daily/weekly strikes as well as content updates/dlc

Edited by xUndyingRealm: 8/29/2014 4:46:54 AMNightfalls will be out daily and weekly. The daily one would be easier than the weekly one. We will be busy in Destiny .
-
Edited by tangmcgame: 8/28/2014 11:06:14 PMI read a quote on Gamespot where DeeJ said Destiny would never be over until you've beaten every player in the Crucible. He did mention strikes and exploration, but those are hardly endless.
-
Check it out . We will be busy in Destiny .
-
Well exploration is exactly that, endless. There is no specific objective to complete other than one you make yourself so it doesn't really end. You choosing not to want to continue on with PvE after you get bored doesn't mean it ends or even that you have completed it. It's a persistent universe but whether you choose to keep doing the new content that will continuously flow out is up to you.
-
The way I understand high level strikes is the daily and weekly strikes. They'll change and add certain conditions to it, as well as increasing the difficulty.
-
And while that will certainly add longevity, it's a little disingenuous to suggest that will equate to endless replayability, just like it is to suggest that competitive multiplayer adds infinite gameplay. I'm not trying to suggest Destiny won't have a lot to do, just that DeeJ came off as kind of a boob in that quote.
-
To be honest, you are being a bit rediculous in your assumption that one can "beat" destiny In world of warcraft the game doesn't start unitil 90 and that's when you will notice the difference. So I don't think anyone really beats wow either.
-
Fair enough. You don't ever 'beat' a game like this, but you do reach a point where you've exhausted the content. I'm saying he should have made a better argument, not that he's our-and-out wrong.
-
I think that a lot of people are critical of deej, he is saying exactly what activision wants them to say, nothing more nothing less.
-
Well that's particularly ignorant and offensive. DeeJ is great at his job and this is a rare misstep.
-
No not really, he said he couldn't even say the word destiny, I have a feeling that's activisions doing not his. all pr is sort of like advertisement and all advertisement is handled by activisiion therefore deej can't say anything they don't like. No matter how much he wants to.
