I paid $60 I deserve to have access to the entire game

Getting a lot of whiners (I know, what's new) about the MM. And one thing I keep hearing is "Why should I be restricted from part of the game, I have a job, wife, family, school whatever, so it should be changed to ensure I can play. After all I paid just as much as you. Yet none of those people stop to think about the players these raids are designed for. And Bungie has been pretty vocal about wanting to have something for every type of gamer. Creating activities for every mood, or every type of gamer, means not everyone is going to like or be able to do every activity. If you're not the type of person that can schedule a time with 5 other people to tackle the hardest co-op experience in the game, then raids weren't designed for you. And it's extremely selfish and entitled of you to say that the raid Bungie designed for those players should cater to your play style. Want MM co-op dungeion, there will be probably 20 times as many strikes designed just for you than there will be raids designed for raiders. Want PVP, well Bungie has you covered as well. Want story, either lone wolf or co-op, covered. Want to explore every nook and cranny of the different worlds, covered. Between strikes, PVP, nighfall events and other limited time activities that Bungie will be providing, the 1 raid is probably like 5% of the available endgame activities. Someone only interested in PVE and skipping out on PVP is going to be missing much more of the game that someone that isn't able to raid. And since powerful exotics can be obtained in every activity, you aren't going to be out gunned by someone that can raid. TL:DR Creating activities for every mood, or every type of gamer, means not everyone is going to like or be able to do every activity. There's still an abundance of activities designed for you.

  • Im pretty sure this game is going to be so epic, that every player is going to be compelled to want to experience every angle of every dynamic and function of the game to its entirety.

  • My dear friends; Let us keep in mind that this is a game. A very good game. But a game none the less. You play when you can, with whom ever you can and to whatever level your abilities take you. But remember, it is a game. Games are supposed to be fun in some way, shape, or form. This is not mandatory, it is not work (except for Deej). It is akin to reading a good book. I play late a night after my wife is in bed for 3-4 hours sometimes and if I binge play I take some time off, cause it is only a game. I've never completed all the achievements in any game I own. Why some I just cannot get and you know what, it doesn't matter. So have fun, or phun (ph=f in phone) or even more ghun (gh = f in enough) Nuff said

  •
I have a job, wife, family, school...
I personally don't care that there isn't MM for Raids, but it's funny how people complain about not having enough friends when they haven't even thought about the time it will take to complete a Raid. If you don't have the time, don't even bother complaining about the fact that there is no MM.

    • Honestly when the game comes out I'm sure there will be tons of people at the end game looking to do raids and it should be fairly easy to get a bunch of random players to form a fire team. There will probable even be known places in the tower for people to go when trying to get people to try out raids.

Everyone can play raids, you just need some friends, because its a co-op game! When you have not so much time, and you play like a casual gamer, why you want play raids? Raids made for high-end people, not for casuals.

        • This is a very good topic. I'm really enjoying the different point of views. My intake is: if you can't play the raids, you still have other modes to have fun with. It's not like you will Raid every time you play Destiny. If you want to take your time and play on a raid then make the time for it. A day off, let the wife know and make it happen. But I'm sure that Bungie will not modify a whole mode of the game just because people with families and kids don't have enough time to play.

        • To be honest... Don't paid more... Probably a lot. That just about covers the bit of extra content ps owners get. You think you are paying as much as a ps user, but you aren't. Playstation probably payed enough to add about $5 to every purchase pfficially "lending" every playstation owner a few bucks for their purchase.

        • Matchmaking limits no one. Your raids should be made no easier by the presence of matchmaking. You are just trying to shut casuals out of the content through policy, limiting the ability for stronger players to meet and assist others through content. It is some of the most disgustingly underhanded elitism I have ever witnessed.

          • You make good points. As a more casual gamer with not many online friends I am not even interested in the raids solely because I dont have the amount of time necessary to be useful in a raid.

            • I like the fact that there is no matchmaking, people wont be crying cause they cant get through the raids cause they have no communication and then blame bungie cause its to hard, or that there anti social and they cant get 5 friends together to do the content, raids are for hardcore players, if your not dedicated then your not even going to be able to step in front of the vault of glass, little less get through with a bunch of people who don't know what the hell they are doing and have no communication to work together and find out what to do

              • Its like if I went to Jack in the box and ordered a meal (fries, drink etc the whole shabang) and they said I know these fries come included with your meal but if you really want to enjoy them and get the full experience out of them, climb up this pole to get them. (bad example) but you get my point.

                • Sad to say but look at cod. The extinction game play is hard to do with a bunch of randoms. Most of the gamers today hardly use mics unless with friends. Stop trying to demand match making this killed raids in the past so leave it out.

As long as you can still get awesome loot from other parts of the game, then I don't really care. But if you have to do raids to get the best loot, then they're a problem, by excluding the best weapons and gear from those of use that don't have time for a 2-4+ hour raid. Not only would that be excluding players from Raids, but the Iron Banner as well. If you know it's going to be filled with people with Raid gear, and you don't have anything good enough to fight against that, then why bother playing it?

                    • I think people that want matchmaking so badly are underestimating how difficult these raids are going to be. According to Bungie This is the extreme end content designed for the most hardcore players. They say it will be really hard to complete even for a group of coordinated friends let alone 6 randoms. I highly doubt that 6 random people without a plan and coordination will be able to get very far in these raids. If Bungie allowed matchmaking, people would soon be complaining that the raids are too difficult and that the enemies need to be nerfed. They don't want that. They want this to be the ultimate challenge that all guardians aspire to. They want this to be for the guardians who play several hours a day, live on the destiny app and are involved in the community. If they didn't have it this way, there would soon be complaints from those hardcore players that there isn't enough challenging end game content. This is the peak people, most guardians won't be able to do it anyway

This is the definition of entitlement. The fact is you DO have access to the entire game. It just isn't going to be handed to you on a silver platter. Do we need a better way to find players to party up raid with? Yes. Is matchmaking the only solution? No. Does not having matchmaking mean Bungie hates you? No.

                      • No one has played the game yet, it's silly when they say something is broken before even opening the box.

                      • I would not care about no matchmaking (although I think it should be added because this game is not an MMO as advertised) if you could organize in game, which you can't. It plays like a shooter, has even less social features then most shooters, yet wants people to treat it like an MMO. They have to decide, have MMO like tendencies to exclude people but make it so you have the features to give people who don't troll forums for friends a chance to get together in game OR accept it's going to be an always online borderlands. Right now the devs are going for a feature lacking in-between. The way it is now I think what is going to happen is the following. Remembering this is a console shooter I think the first one will sell very well, then regular people will have fun but wonder why you can't talk to people or find groups in game and after finishing the story and doing the strikes will quit. After a few months those regular people who don't think grinding daily quests is fun will quit and the remaining will buy the expansions. Then those people will get to the end game (raids) and see they can't get organized for it in game and quit once it gets too repetitive. After that you are left with the minority who don't mind joining clans in forums and do the raids. I don't see the sequel selling well as it stands now, they expect too much out of replacing in game features with social media and apps. It's not going to work if they want the IP to grow over time and not sell a ton at launch and then die before the sequel comes out. To me the following is missing INGAME (not forums) before this IP can have a long life. This is all basic MMO features. -A real party system (easy to know who is in your groups, no need to go to PSN etc.) -Same for clan, as it is I have to have everyone in the clan on my PSN friend list to group up in destiny...I went 10 years with only real life friends on there...now all of a sudden I need to add people because of one game without the features to match it's ambitions, makes no sense -Global chat channels or/and looking for group interface with keyboard support -Automatic voice chat in groups as an option. I love the potential of the game but right now it's all potential, hopefully these things will get fixed. This "that's how it is deal with it" attitude when it comes to have features outside the game won't make for long time success especially on consoles. They will lose half their potential long term customers who contrary to people used to PC games won't think they will fix it later and just quit.
