Although I'm against wiping us clear of sweet items it seems there is no real way to give them to us without making us OP at launch. So I've been thinking about it and i think ive realized the best way to please both sides.
The best way to do this is if we kept all of our gear but we would have to reach level 8 over again to unlock all of it. That way weren't ahead of the game yet we will still have the loot we worked hard for.
Thoughts?

Edited by Prime: 7/24/2014 4:14:14 PMWhat about lower level gear that you want to transfer? Won't it be useless once you reach lvl. 8?
Fixed it. sorry! Pesky autocorrect
It's a beta. Personally I'd be happy if nothing carried over. I had a pretty good taste of something fantastic, now I'm happy to wait for the main course.
-
simple solution. Everyone realize that this is a beta and not a live game and nothing ever carries over except typically some emblem that shows you participated in the beta. This is no the live game, they owe you nothing.
-
im all for the clearing of items and toons. I think everyone should experience the full game from start. That way everyone is on even fields
-
Or they could just wipe our beta characters because it's better and easier than a complex system built just to appease a couple people who refuse to play 4 hours at launch.
-
That's how it would work anyway... Why doesn't anyone realize the stuff we have equipped is only usable by level 8 guardians. That is of course assuming we all put on better gear as we acquired it.
-
I know that a beta wipes everything, and this game is sometimes a little bit of luck for that rare gear you spent a long time hoping to get as a drop. The only way I have imagined being able to keep items is to put them in the vault. They could put an item maximum or let us fill the vault with what we see fit. Most weapons and armors that are worth keeping are level restricted anyway. Thats my thought..
-
Only thing I really want to carry over are some rare items I've found. Got some weapons that are to strong for the level 8 cap so I can't even use them. Saving onto everything just in case bungie carries stuff over.
-
Would only be OP in iron banner. Regular crucible would be evens out regardless of carry over. I don't care either way. Just happy to play the beta. We are on our way to becoming legend
-
I don't mind really. Once you reach level nine it's all pretty much useless
-
I have one..... Don't do it

Edited by DEZARATH: 7/24/2014 5:01:46 PMI find it really laughable that some have to consider everything a race. When I started the Beta I was day behind. Level 8s were already at my favorite farming site where I could begin leveling. They killed all my kills. So instead of standing there crying about it I just walked into a dark zone and walked right back out. They were gone and I was alone to do my business. I don't care about level 30s or level 28s walking around before I get there. Besides that Bungie has already stated only a minor emblem was crossing over. Maybe stats. I don't expect anything of visual worth to cross save a avatar hoodie at best like Reach's beta. So basically these posts trying to stop beta gear from carrying over are made by individuals to worried about themselves in the Crucible. That they feel they need to head off everyone else just incase some ten year old in awesome armor sits on their dead body while they watch from a kill cam.
-
If it did carry over, I'm going to delete it and start over.
-
It's not a bad idea, but then players would grind like crazy to quickly get back up to their old level. Who knows what new weapons and armor will be available at launch, even at low levels. Then there is the legendary items: Now, I don't have one myself ( despite playing fairly above-average in the Crucible and Iron Banner), but I'm sure the level requirement will drop, as well as the actual damage it does. That being said, people again will just grind instead of playing the game at the pace it was meant to be played.

Dude I understand why everyone wants the transfer the game is awesome so much Hype but remember this is a beta test. I love my guns and ships but it's a beta so we'll get an emblem in recognition for been part of the beta testers. Although I would love that everyone instead of an emblem we get a class specific item that represent the beta testers. Won't happen but it would be awesome.
-
It's not really an op edge when all the items already have level requirements of we have to make new characters. I'll be happy if they let me keep my grimoire cards and grimoire kill stats levels. I'll be giddy if they let me keep my emblems, class items, and golden chest sparrow. I'll foam at the mouth in happiness if I get to keep my uncommon amd rare items

Edited by Strong Dawn: 7/24/2014 5:08:00 PMHelp me to understand why: 1) people think that keeping your rank is same thing as keeping your loot? 2) keeping loot makes players over-powered when loot is linked to rank? If you have to wipe one, most likely the rank will get wiped because that is the determining factor of your progress. We'll all have to rank up again, so the loot is rendered unusable until we re-rank. I want to keep my best finds in the vault, just in case I don't find something as competitive on my re-rank. Plus, each piece of loot may hold some fond memories.
-
Yeah I already have two pieces of vanguard armor I hope we at least get to keep the items in our vault
-
ITT: Destinitards don't read the OP as always
-
Edited by Tyger: 7/24/2014 6:24:38 PMI feel that this could work. Basically we put our shit in the vault, our characters get wiped but our equipment doesn't. It wouldn't really effect balance because everyone could potentially have the same equipment at the same level, beta players would just be guaranteed what they've already found.

Omg i have so much progress:,( i don't want to lose it... SHUT UP YOU FAT TWAT!!
-
I would love an experience wipe rather than a gear wipe. Wouldn't mind at all
-
How about. No carry over perfect
-
That's not a bad idea actually, and it's a very good compromise also leaving it open to acquire new gear
