...because despite the fact that these "neo atheists" claim to despise evangelists... they just can't stop themselves from evangelising.
Despite the fact they claim to reject religion- they're not intelligent enough to recognize the fact that they are indeed following a religion recognized by dozens of nations, the EU, the UN , NATO and was in fact THE STATE RELIGION OF THE FORMER SOVIET UNION.
what it comes down to is this- they've been heavily propagandised into believing "you're only smart if you believe what we tell you to" (which is never smart)... and when people reject the beliefs they hang their self worth on- they react as irrationally as the beliefs their self worth is built on.
Atheism... is JUST another religion, the religion of state over man.

Yeah, that is where you are wrong. Atheists, (i've yet to see anyone call them self a neo-atheist, because that just means NEW Atheist.) are the farthest thing from evangelicals. You see, Atheists have yet to go around claiming that they can heal you with the power of jesus, or some other deity. Atheists have never constructed Mega churches to hold tens of thousands of worshipers. In fact Atheists don't actually worship anything. They don't ask for tithes, they just ask for equal rights for all. They ask that science not be trampled on by someones religion. They understand facts, and don't ignore them based off of their beliefs, because they understand that FACTs don't require belief to be true. If atheism is a religion, it is a religion of no religion. Quite literally, if Religion was a TV channel, then Atheism is the off button. Would you consider the off button a channel?

Just because someone doesn't subscribe to some sort of theology you assume they aspire to be subjugated by the state? I agree that there are plenty of fanatical atheists but what other outcome would you expect after centuries of religious oppression. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This is an argument as old as mankind. It's never going to be resolved and it's time for people to wake up and realize that everyone's just as full of shit as the next person and no one really knows what the -blam!- is going in the grand scheme of this wonderful cosmos we find are ourselves in.
