PSA: We are currently working on a fix for the Centipede issue

A number of users have been experiencing repeated 'Centipede' errors and are unable to log in. We are working hard on a resolution to this issue, and hope to get it fixed soon. Thank you for all our patience, and [i]All Hail the Sacred Centipede[/i], he requires many sacrifices upon the alter of networking to sate his hunger.

  • Everyone here seems to be getting the 'centipede' error though I've just attempted to log in and it's claiming that it is "Unable to connect to PSN. Please check your network connection and PSN status." (Yes, I have checked my PSN status and I am indeed online) Is anyone else having this problem?

    • First it was centipede, now its marionberry. Ive checked my connection a bunch of times and everything is ok. And today the beta goes on maintenance for two days, FAIL. . I hope at least when its back we can all log in and play without interruption.

      • For anyone that is having problems with the "cannot connect with PSN" error, go into settings - network - test connection. This worked for me and has worked for another.

            Playing like 1 hour ago. Try to sign in now and I keep getting PSN not found or login issue despite it being logged in. I tried the test network and rebooting - still nothing. I am on the PS4.

          • If your getting the PSN error but not the Centipede you may need to just restart your WiFi connection on your PS4. Once I disconnected and restarted it from scratch it connected right away

          • haven't been able to play one second of beta. Got to character creation once but centipede got me again. Im cancelling my pre order if it doesn't get fixed by the end of the 2 day maintenance

            • Will there be compensation for the people that have missed the Iron banner events and won't get the items? or even people that have missed the entire beta so far? Will the event be extended another day?

                I too have the centipede error. The beta played fine on Friday, and again on Saturday morning. On Saturday night, I could no longer log-in. I've tried both wireless and wired connections, NAT 2 and 3, port-forwarded, moved my PS4 into my router's DMZ, uninstalled and reinstalled the entire 10+GB game install - all to no avail. I then created a new account, from the same machine, on the same network - and was able to log straight in and play. So this is obviously NOT a network issue, but an account issue. For what it's worth, as others have hinted at, I used the vault for the first time (shared inventory at the Tower) during my Saturday session. Perhaps it was this sharing of gear across different avatars which has caused this error...

              • I haven't been able to play the beta done it was released. Every time it signs me on, says verifying content, screen goes black, and the loading thing in the bottom right corner comes on. Then finally I get the centipede error message and it kicks me to the start screen.

                • For some reason, i swapped to another psn account and it let me further then my first account.

                • I was also able to play with a different profile. So i deleted the beta and am currently downloading it again. Since I couldn't figure out how to just delete the save data I just deleted the whole thing.i hope this works. I just want to play I don't care if I have to start over.

                    • So, it hasn't been fixed yet. Can we expect it to be fixed by Wednesday, and will the bug be fixed in a way that prevents Xbox players from encountering it and restores the data of those currently affected by it?

                            If it helps the error started occurring just after trying to inspect someone, and in the inspection window I saw a level 0. The character I was inspecting was level 8. Haven't been able to play since being disconnected just after the aforementioned event.

                          • Some kids needa quit bitchin. And i wanna note that i used the item storage to put a item from my titan to my hunter. Iidk if this is the problem but i solved the centipede problem by using my second account. Same ps4 same lan cable. Same network and it worked.

                            • I know the beta is going to be undergoing maintenance until Wednesday but I wanted to make a post here in case additional information helped. As of Saturday afternoon I was able to log into my account without a problem. After taking a break for some dinner I came back and was getting the CENTIPEDE error. I checked basically every router setting I though could have effect to no avail. I eventually used another account to login with the same PS4, LAN cable, and network and I was able to login with no problem on that account. The only things I had done differently on Saturday while playing was I did use the Vault to transfer loot and during the break I linked the Destiny Companion App to my account. I realize nothing can be done at the moment or tested as maintenance is going through, but I hope this is resolved by Wednesday, Thanks for a great game Bungie! Even with the quirks/account locks I've really enjoyed it so far. I was just bummed I couldn't participate in the Iron Banner thus far.
