I'm going to tell you how Destiny ends.

Not all that many people are thinking about how the plot of the first game is going to end. It is a big question as to... how is Bungie going to end this game, so that we can move into the second? Bungie has said they want us to be with our characters over 10 years, right? How are we going to do that for gameplay? Are they going to keep us max level at the beginning of Destiny #2? Or are they going to pull a "The Witcher" where our character is just magically deleveled next game and we have to progress all over again? So I'd like to present a thought. I note first that there is zero evidence for it, and it is only a possibility I came up with in my head. Proceed with that in mind. Guardians are few, and they obtain their power from the Traveler. What if that power isn't inherent? As if, what if it is more like 'borrowed?' This Space Magic, we don't actually know how it works. Does it require a constant stream of power from the Traveler? Or is it something instilled in us? To my knowledge, we don't yet know how it works. So. This leads to my point... what is our Space Magic comes in waves? There are moments of our lives where we are full of the Travelers 'light.' Those people that fill up are Guardians. Their power ebbs and flows. In the case of Destiny, leveling up (not even just overall levels- but powering up your Space Magic abilities too!) is your power growing. The City knows this is your time, and seeks to use your power before it recedes again. So the story of Destiny is a race. It's a race against the enemy races, a race against the Darkness returning... and a race against your own inability to help out humanity once your power runs out. As the story of Destiny ends, you are nearing your most powerful state. And as the next game begins... your power has already ebbed, and you must work to build your talents yet again. I'm thinking something akin to Revan (Star Wars) that was severed from the Force and regained his power. This is interesting to me- how this transition is going to take place. It's just as possible that Bungie will just say your Guardian keeps his power, or your Guardian is reincarnated somehow after dying but has to start over from that severing from his power. There are a myriad of possibilities. But I figure the one I brought up covers all four games, rather than needing a new excuse to reset a character every game. Again, not saying this is any more likely than any other possibility. But I like to think about the story- since that's what interests me here. I get really invested into stories. So please. Share your thoughts on this, and on other ways to transition if you have them. It'd be cool to see some brainstorming! Cheers!

    • Personally I'm more included to think its simply a game sized dlc, kinda like WOW expansion packs, gathering a game worth of extra content and a raised level cap.

    • I like the thought, but I'm pretty sold on the theory that some humans made it out of our solar system. I'm thinking we spend game 1 getting our teeth kicked in until the ones that made it out return as reinforcements. Game 2 getting on even ground. Game 3 is taking back our ENTIRE solar system. Game 4 is crushing the darkness and reviving the Traveller or finding more of them. I feel this requires level advancements, and each game provides an opportunity, lore wise, to discover new tech.

    • I'm guessing they're taking another page from WoW. Since the level cap is so low (25 or 30?) each new game (expansion) will just start us where we left off, rather than naked at level 1 acting like we didn't become legend already.

It ends with you waking up in bed next to Suzanne Pleshette; telling her all about this crazy dream you had. (Seriously, the single greatest series ending episode in the history of television; perhaps the single greatest moment in televsion period)

      • This is ACTUALLY how Destiny is going to end. The Speaker is going to start doing some shady sh*t. He's going to ask you to back him up. When you say "nah", he's going to try and kill you. Based on some religious, traveller self-righteousness, he wants to cleanse the universe of all life (or some BS prophet of truth crap.)

No way. Your power is just beginning to take shape, and the first game ends with the Darkness being given the boot (and the bird) from Earth, taking with it its evil allies (Hive for sure). The next game would focus on booting the Darkness out of the Solar system. Third game will take the fight to the enemy. Fourth will find the origin of the Darkness and put it to sleep (following the law of never truly ridding darkness/evil from the universe). I say level 1-30 in the first game (doesn't count foci), 31-60 in the second game, 61-80 in the third and 81-100 in the final.

        • Gaurdians magic is "channeling the Traveler's tech" These are not magicians, they just learned out to aim the gun Also, I would like to see an altair style to losing everything. Having to fight your way back up in the ranks
