What I dislike about Superhero films *avoid spoiler tags*

Why is it that the absence of other characters is rarely (or ever?) explained? I realize that not every single character can be mentioned in say, Iron Man 3, but where were the Avengers in that?
Or what about the Xmen? Wouldn't they be interested in fighting a bunch of evolved-humans?
Wouldn't Captain America have been interested in saving America? A simple "Spider man is busy tracking down (insert Super villain)," "Hulk is sad and can't get angry'" or even "Cap is busy at the Pentagon," would have sufficed. Are these legitimate plot holes? ..Or am I just overthinking things?

  • I just realised that I can't read your OP because I am going blind from oversleeping so much :( It's really really weird but my focus is off and I am unable to read anything without going temporarily blind I have no idea what you're on about at all. How could they help Iron Man? I thought that the whole idea of the plotline was that the Avengers are selfish -blam!-s that never help their fellow man out unless it's the end of the world like in Da Avengers Film. But of course they won't lend to be a hand for Iron Man. If he gets shit up his asshole then he's on his own homie because Avengers only prevent the end of the world; they don't help out their fellow superheroes when they're in shit-trouble.

  • Before you make all these claims on how "it doesn't make sense", the least you could do is some research first.... First of all, Spiderman doesn't exist in this "Avengers" universe. His movies are made by Sony, and the Avengers films are by Marvel. They don't exist in the same universe. Likewise, X-Men is owned by Fox. They also don't exist in the same universe. The Avengers will likely be explained in future films. Thor is obviously back in Asgard, and reportedly Captain America 2 will take place in the same time as Iron Man 3, so Captain America is busy saving the country in his own way. Banner is likely just chilling, though I don't think he'd have been helpful in Iron Man 3.

    • I don't believe that the X-Men exist within the recent 'Avengers' series. Otherwise we'd have definitely had Hugh Jackman tearing things up. As for throwing a line in to say "Oh, Captain America is busy" - you could, but that would just be a distraction from the plot.

      • The movie iterations of X-Men, Spider-Man and The Avengers are separate universes. Otherwise we would've seen Spider-Man fighting the Chitauri as well considering that was in New York.
