While i still can't imagine what Destiny could be, i'm just hoping Bungie will make something definitely unique and ahead of it's time like Shenmue, Final Fantasy VII or even Mario 64, something with a new gameplay, something refreshing wich let it's fingerprint in this industry...
Actually OP i'm tired of those generic Sci-fi/modern war shooter that dont really bring innovations (except Dust 514) those game you almost finish in 4h campaign and go full Multiplayer, and the question is : how can you make something different and original with it's own new gameplay mechanics with a great story who connect you with several characters ? is it with a Rpg ? MMO ? both ? or even a new hybrid genre ?
This may be the question Bungie ask themselves back in the day when they first pitched Destiny/Tiger.
But, immediately my brain can still not give any answer. For now, i'm just afraid of being disapointed by Bungie the same way i was for Reach... and the darkness is so long, it doesn't help much.
And seeing what 343i made with H4 specifically in term of mise en scene it's a good example that i would like to share.
I always see the lack of effort of Bungie in this category during their process, while they're good in creating huge universe and provide unique atmosphere, they always seems to be very clumsy in their cinematics moments, as if they were missing the point on dramatic situation (some cinematics in Halo Saga were laughable) the one that come now to my mind was Johnson's death. This scene was supposed to be very painfull for John, but at the very end it was awfull for me. It was so casual... yep! that's the word "casual" for him and of course for me. I see this scene as a waste of great dramatic situation, and i still remembered this exact moment when i said something like "seriously?! well... Johnesy is dead like a moron... Well, well, well, so ima finish the fight!" i just didn't feel anything when he die, nothing, i was disconnect by the game! If something like that happen, it's not normal for the player and of course from the develloper itself.
Reach try to do better, but i consider it as an other failed attempt for providing emotions, this time with a bunch of moron dying in stupid situation except yourself as Noble 6.
So all of those words for said, i really do hope that Destiny will have a better investment of Bungie in term of cinematics quality, best animation (Mocap, cause they add it lately for Reach, wich is a shame for a studio like them) facial expression, and of course mise en scène, sensibility and editing (for music they already have talented people).
"So Bungie do justice to your story with a better cinematographic narration !"
