Also the shadows of the planet that the Halo ring (any of the rings, really...) revolved around would give a night effect, as well as the travel of that planet's moon. In a Shield World (Dyson Sphere), the entire star is encircled. There's nothing to block the sunlight from any angle, there for even if the Dyson Sphere rotated, there'd be nothing big enough to create a night effect.
