And I appreciate that 343i hasn't turned them all into hilarious Mary Sue characters with no faults, they are in fact regular soldiers made to be Spartans. It's really noticeable when Thorne says he was in the Army before joining the Spartans. First time we've heard of the Army in the UNSC being actively involved, rather than the Marines and Navy.
