In Halo 2 and 3, I only picked up the Magnum when I was up against players who didn't have a clue what they were doing. The Halo 3 Magnum gets my vote for worst weapon in Halo history, simply because the Reach 'nade launcher at least has EMP.
The grenade launcher in Reach was pretty useless to me outside of the EMP effect, and even then, the PP does it just as well, if not better. It went from being OP in the beta to fairly useless post-release.
Most automatic weapons are pretty ineffective unless you get the jump on someone or you're up against players who don't use precision weapons. I like this, because they still serve a purpose while not making the game strictly about spotting the other player first and sloppily spraying them down.
