I don't speak for anyone other than myself, but I would rather you didn't.
AFAIK, the point of a Report button is that it sees whether single users separately come to the same conclusion. Not whether a collective has decided to throw their weight behind a single person's find.
If the report button isn't working, request that the webteam come up with a solution, don't try to cheat the system (even if you think it's for a good cause).
My 2p
Reporting shouldn't be your focus. You should spend that time simply browsing the forums, avoiding the bad threads, trying to post positive things. When you see something you don't think belongs, then sure, take 2 seconds to report it and move on. You can't crush all the trolls and flamers, your best of solving the problem is to try to outnumber them. To set a good example, and hope others follow it. After all, when you crush 1 troll, more will take their place. The report button is just one part of a two-pronged attack.
I agree.
The report function (as it exists) is democratic and an example of vox populi (the voice of the people) in action.
Any attempt to leverage or exploit it (and using a group to intentionally trigger the report threshold IS an exploit) is ill-advised. I can understand the intent, but the application of this undermines the point of the report system in the first place.
People have to see the "offending post" themselves and decide to report it or not. Having people crowd-source the process would make it less effective, not more.
Your role as a moderator enables you immediately ban this user from messaging (bypassing the report queue) if you select a punishment.
