Eh, some of it is pretty cool. I liked the first season of Sword Art Online, for example, because of it's psychological thrills revolving around being trapped in a virtual reality MMO that actually kills you in the real world when you die. Seeing how traditional gamer behavior play out in this world was intense. Cyborg 009 aged fairly well since the time I watched it as a kid. Frankly, I just enjoy the plot and the characters. They are all well rounded and have interesting back stories. I even liked High School of the Dead to an extent. Yes the amount of fanservice was -blam!- shameful, but it had really gripping moments that revolved around the collapse of society. So...I disagree with the OP.
