Did cortana loved the chief as a lover or as a friend? (spoilers)
There is no denying Cortana loved the chief. If you don't agree play halo 4 ...
She always wanted to touch him, she was more loyal to him than mankind (negating any she was just a robot claim), she was scared of death but died anyway for chief's sake., she stayed with him etc...
that's textbook love to me.
She was an AI yes, but she was a copy of a brain, and our brains are the ones that manage feelings.
but how do you think she loved the chief as lovers, or as friends?

I feel like John's connection to Cortana is exactly like my connection to my dog. I love her and would do anything for her, but there is nothing -blam!- there. Cortana is John's pal, his companion through hell and back. Cortana being as smart as she is... she may think of John as her "dog" or companion. So the feelings are mutual. Best friends so-to-speak.
