It has come to my attention that there is a feature called "bookmarking" on my browser and every other supported browser, so I think that we should remove the "Saved Threads" feature from this site. It wouldn't be a big deal, would free up some extra space on the navigation bar, and it could all be solved by other means. If users wanted it back, they could either use bookmarks or write a script which replaces it.

Sounds like a change not many people like change or like to book mark. I can some what agree with your post.

So instead of the "Saved Threads" option on the Profile Tab what do you propose replaces it? [Edited on 02.02.2011 9:42 AM PST]

What? Why? I enjoy saving threads from this site specifically so that I can check on it periodically. It's not like it really gets in the way of normal site browsing. Why would there be a need to free up some extra space on the nav bar when it isn't cluttered? Don't fix what isn't broken. I do realize that I have a bookmark feature but for every thread that I save, that's one less bookmark cluttering up my list. I agree. We should also get rid of the sticky threads, including the rules. We can just bookmark those as well, all they do is make everything cluttered. [Edited on 02.02.2011 9:41 AM PST]
Posted by: Hylebos So instead of the "Saved Threads" option on the Profile what do you propose replaces it?
The Halo 2 Forum. It could definitely use the attention.

Maybe remove the links at the top of the page and the profile info? I'm sure those can be bookmarked fairly easily too. Besides, they're making this place pretty untidy.
Posted by: Sanuel Jackson What? Why? . . .
This is the OP's attempt at being "witty" in response to Achronos suggesting that people bookmark the Flood forum if they feel it's too much extra to click on "Bungie Forums" and then the Flood, since the Flood is off the drop down menu now.

I sense a parallel to the recent removal of the Flood.

This makes no sense. Why focus on the removal of features, in order to free up a part of the nav bar that is in no need of extra space? Saved threads are quite useful, they categorise by forum and are saved to your profile for future reference. You may've also already seen in The Flood navbar thread that bookmarks are not convenient for some people, nor are they generally considered an ideal alternative for web designers. Finally you've overlooked quite a crucial point. Saved threads are used in order to produce the top forum topics listings, which is a very useful feature.
Posted by: Sanuel Jackson Wait, was the OP being satirical? I would look foolish if that were the case. :(
heh if so this was actually quite good. You might as well asked for a link to the Flood Forum, since this is clearly what this thread is about.

I switch between computers frequently though so bookmarking a thread would be impractical, because then one computer would have one set of threads but not the other. I hoped I answered that with what the OP meant.

It saddens me to see how many people missed the obvious sarcasm in the OP.

I see what you did there.

However at the same time i am most amused at how a significant section of people decrying removal of features are the same section of people lauding the removal of the link to the flood. Well done OP.
Posted by: Big Black Bear It saddens me to see how many people missed the obvious sarcasm in the OP.
I saw the Sarcasm, I was merely trying to get him to complete the analogy, as the Flood Forum wasn't removed from the Navigation bar for absolutely no reason.

I've been doing this for ages. Its quicker to use use a bookmark on your browser.

Go figure that the first people to get it are from my two most favored private groups. GG, L00 and Momentum! On topic...clever troll is clever. [Edited on 02.02.2011 10:23 AM PST]

I don't want to create and delete new bookmarks all the time. The saved threads are easy to use, and they don't clutter up my already full bookmark space. They don't get in the way either.

The saved threads feature goes hand in hand with the Top Forum Topics, so removing it would require a re-working or removal of the TFT's system.
Posted by: ZYTHON The saved threads feature goes hand in hand with the Top Forum Topics, so removing it would require a re-working or removal of the TFT's system.
We can remove that too and let scriptwriters deal with it. This site is about Bungie, and just because these threads are popular, it does not mean they are important to the community. These threads may be the most popular on the site, but they're sometimes not exactly welcoming to new members. They get too much attention, and too many people use them. In fact, we should replace them with "bottom forum-topics", ones that have gotten the least posts after existing for a certain amount of time. There might be a reason that these threads are not as popular, but that doesn't matter. We can make them equally popular by featuring them over the top forum topics.
