It is time to release the unlucky chapter of my poem. Enjoy!
People just getting into the story or who have missed the previous sections can find Part 12 here, and the other parts in the Flood Library sticky.
McGee now found his whole army
Trapped 'gainst the city wall,
And if he could not get them free
The New Flood would soon fall.
His troop's morale was fast waning,
They would not hold out long.
English and Blimper were gaining
And would soon prove too strong.
McGee and Blimper stood opposed,
The world stopped in silence,
And with the day nearing its close
McGee now did commence.
"Blimper know now your betrayal
Was carried out in vain.
The gods shall reward the loyal,
To traitors they'll bring pain.
We placed in you the greatest trust,
But now you seek to prove
That you are worth less than the dust
Trampled 'neath th' horses' hooves.
You'll have the time to consider
All of your actions well,
And this moment you'll remember
As you burn in the hells!"
This gave McGee's soldiers courage,
And they sent up a cheer.
The Old had lost an advantage:
The New had no more fear.
But Blimper would maintain his course,
His decision was made.
His actions left him no remorse,
For he had been betrayed.
"Your speeches shall not persuade me
To come back to the New.
I'll be no slave t'your tyranny,
Or be condemned by you.
I sacrificed my family
To aid your foolish cause,
But even my best strategies
Could not redeem your flaws.
The traitor lies not on this side,
And I swear to my death,
That from my wrath you shall not hide
'Til you've drawn your last breath."
As the armies began their clash,
McGee and Blimper fought.
The arms sounded a might crash,
Their fervor failing not.
Though McGee's wound had still not healed
He fought with all his might.
He'd no intent to quit the field
Until the come of night.
Blimper had seen an opening.
His spear pierced through the air.
But his strike accomplished nothing,
For McGee was not there.
In retaliation McGee
Struck toward Blimper's heart.
But the armor he did not see
Broke McGee's spear apart.
If his soldiers'd not intervened
His death would be certain.
But since his generals there had been,
He had escaped again.
The armies were called back to line
To end the second day.
Still no side had prevailed this time,
And so they both would stay.
The sun continued its descent
Into the horizon.
And as night fell, all those present
Knew who'd this battle won.

Awesome. Although I doubt most Floodians know what the Iliad is.

No. Knowing what the Iliad is gives a little more insight as to what I am doing with my poem.
Posted by: mneo Nice! How many parts are you planning to write?
I created a rough storyboard to figure this out, and there are going to be a total of 19 parts, plus the prologue and epilogue, making for a total of 21.

As always, fantastic.

Hey I remember you (Mabian), didn't you make a thread where you got people to write poems about Halo?
