I liked Dinklebot's performance in some parts. People say he was flat, but there's no comparison on "Oh, we slayed a Gate Lord!", "Where's his Ghost?" or "We've woken the Hive!" Nolanbot's writing is more sarcastic, whereas I thought much of the original writing was more curious or worried. I can't see Dinklebot joking about about wishing they never woken the Hive at the entrance of of the Moon Patrol working as well because it was written for smartalecbot. I'd love to see an option for both, with future dialog recorded by both actors, but that isn't likely to happen.

Edited by DarkMythos: 2/16/2016 8:47:32 AMYes, the actor that actually cared when his lines were recorded should be thrown out because we need the boring, mundane voice of dinklebot back

Dink was disinterested, phoned in his whole performance, and didn't bring the spirit of what I thought a ghost should be. He sounded like Tyrion talking to some minor character in GoT. Nolan sounds like a "little light" It's more like guilty spark which is absolutely perfect for this.

He's too busy with Game of Thrones and pixels. Pixels. PIXELS. Cause why not!

I wanted Leonard Nimoy as my ghosts voice. Too bad he's dead.

Walkenbot "We seem to have...awoken these Hive guys... Maybe they would like some Champagñe?"

A CELL! FROM THE PRISON OF ELDERS! THE ARCHON PRIEST IS STILL INSIDE!
-
I agree.

THERE! A CELL FROM THE PRISON OF ELDERS!

Game of Thrones comes out in April. I miss Tyrion way more than Dinklebutt.

Edited by chickengoujohn93: 2/14/2016 8:47:37 PMI couldn't care less. Dinklenorth is nothing but a glorified set of car keys. Opens doors and ignites the engine of your sparrow.

Alright little light, this talk is long overdue. When we got Netflix on the ship I warned you about the dangers of "binge watching" and what is the first thing you do? You watch Star Trek The Next Generation for TWELVE HOURS!!! At first I found your Data impression charming if not bemusing. But it's time to start talking normal again....you're scaring me...
Seriously, it's like that episode of Star Trek where the little boy thought he was Data. Only with your ghost
Dinklebot was a vibrator and you love him.
-
The lines written for Nolan, are decent since they were written with him in mind. But his re-dub of Dinklebot just isn't as good.
-
Edited by BanditNation: 2/15/2016 6:23:59 AMI miss him too, but he's never going to return. If he did, I hope there'd at least be an option to change which Ghost voice you'd have. Maybe it'd be like the Sparrow horns, you'd have about 10-15 different Ghost voices, and you'd hear whichever one you wanted so long as you had it. Maybe even test it in the preview.

I ran my own video production company for almost 30 years. We used professional narrators frequently. Dinklebot was much better than Nolan North in my opinion. Many of North's inflection and emphasis seems incorrect to me. Our professional talent would read the script with different emphasis and voice inflections so that during editing we had the flexibility to choose whatever worked best.

This is the only thing I ever want to see from microtransactions. I want there to be multiple ghost voices in the future. I have zero problem paying for that. I would love to have ghosts with different emotions giving different renditions and feels to certain scenes.
-
this again....
-
I agree, I still have my lil white ghost :)
-
Who was the ad wizard that thought this was a good idea? Bungie's MO is if it works "nerf" it. So the nerf the ghosts too? WTF?
-
I don't.

You miss him because you got used to him and people generally don't like change. Dinklage was boring and dry. He was emotionless and the only good line he ever had was: "Don't do that..." Nolan brings emotion and character, making the Ghost the funny, comedic relief. Dinklage brings a serious/ominous tone to the story, while Nolan makes his moments more fun with a lighthearted feel. Does Nolan's voiceover in vanilla content suck? Yes. It is a word for word rendition where he wasn't given a chance to work the material to his manner and style of speaking for the ghost. There is a definite difference between vanilla dialogue and TTK, where the script is not just better, but Nolan was probably given more leniency in the way he delivered the dialogue.

Yes of course :(
