Seriously. When you play just to hang out with friends, or just to pass the time, it's fun.
I spent all of year one being frustrated that I couldn't get a Gjallarhorn, or a Hopscotch Pilgrim, or whatever I was chasing at the time.
I finally got the things I was chasing, but where are they now? Dismantled. Why? Because Bungie made them irrelevant. All that time I spent trying to get HP, and Bungie goes and makes Saladin sell the Nerwin's Mercy, which is the exact same weapon, but in green instead of blue.
And Gjallarhorn? Left behind at 170, so totally worthless.
You may be thinking, "yeah, so what?"
Well, I was thinking about Bungie's announcement of the new update, expansion, and Destiny 2. Specifically their statement that the level cap would be increased. I realized I've been chasing a 320 ghost and class item since like what...November? Spending week after week mad as hell, and for what?
As per usual, I backed off from Destiny for a little while. Didn't quit, just took a break. I came back this week for Crimson Doubles. Didn't grind it, just played it. You know..."play?" That thing you're supposed to do with games? It usually results in, oh idk...FUN?
Yeah...fun is a thing I haven't felt in a long time, playing Destiny. Because I was making Destiny an obligation instead of a recreational activity. I was so driven to get 320 light that I didn't realize 320 light is pointless. The second I realized this, I decided I was no longer going to play Bungie's game. No longer going to chase their carrot.
And I've been having fun ever since. I haven't even raided this week. I'm the type of guy who does both daily activities every day, does all weekly heroics and nightfalls, and all raids all on Tuesday night so I can spend the rest of the week grinding strikes for exotics and Imago Loops/Grasp of Maloks.
Well, I'm happy to say my days of mindless, pointless grinding are over.
My feedback to Bungie is this: Destiny used to be fun. It was fun when I could wear whatever class item I wanted. When my ghost didn't matter. When I didn't have an artifact that does absolutely nothing. When my weapons weren't all broken. When the nightfall was actually worth it. When you didn't lie to us and change things behind our backs. When I had more than 4 guns to choose from in crucible. When I had 3 raids to choose from that could give endgame loot. I miss THAT Destiny. Please bring it back. Or not. I kinda gave up hope a while ago.

I play for fun , the quicker I get the few 'meta' guns I need after each dlc the better. Have way more fun when just playing the game & not chasing loot or light levels.
-
All they gotta do is open up the drops. They choose to make people pissed off instead cause #addiction

Actually... I have found Destiny to be more fun since I stopped playing all together. It's become far more entertaining to sit back and read the forums, watching those who continue to drink the coolaid, believing Bungie and Activision will eventually deliver on the promise that was Destiny.

Edited by LyarOnFire YT: 2/15/2016 12:40:00 AMThat's the problem with destiny players, all they care about is grinding for loot and winning. That's why all you see in pvp is tryhards from Spain that have salsa in their routers and lagg, using an op weapon, there's no room for fun anymore. Ttk ruined destiny for me tbh, that's when all the bad problems came in, I don't even care about content of the game is broken, fix the game first.

A lot of things are fun if you stop caring. 1) playing with water 2) working 3) running 4) thinking 5) eating 6) driving 7) sexting 8)sleeping 9) breathing 10) walking 11)listening to music 12) rubbing your cat or dog 13) talking to God 14) reading a book. 15) yeah :D this list goes on and on. It is all about perspective my friend. :)
-
I totally agree
-
People have stopped caring to the point that they've stopped playing. Nobody on my friends list plays anymore. Not even my clan mates.
-
-
You are correct. Agreed.
Destiny is more fun when you stop caring.
Cough cough suicide farming cough cough

Destiny isn't a game, it's Bungie's idea of mental torture. They swapped water boarding for Destinying.
-
Amen.
-
If I stop caring might as well stop giving them my money and find a new game

Good post, D0M.

Bump.

The traditional saying is "Don't hate the player ... hate the game." In this instance - it really is more like "Don't hate the game ... hate the Developer."
-
You're right. Don't grind just play for a hour a week or something then forget it. That's what I've had to do.
-
Maybe that is why Bungie likes making Destiny so much, they stopped caring about what it was they were making.
-
Heathy attitude It's just a game with flaws but great gamplay, 2 to 3 hours a week and having a good time with it But that doesn't gives a free pass to bungie
-
Best fun with Destiny is always on the forums. The moment you stop playing Destiny you realise how much actual fun gaming is and how fun the community is :)

destiny is more fun when you stop playing

I started having more fun with Destiny the MOMENT i quit. These forums have been a FAR greater source of entertainment for me. And its free! Until Bungie figures out they can charge the idiots here a fee to post about Destiny, then its game over.
-
At that point i would just play another, of many, game(s) out there.
-
This. This is where its at.

That was the most deepest post I've ever seen about Destiny. I agree with you 100%.
