I recognize there are some people that hate the update...
And I recognize my opinion may not be correct in everyone's eyes.
But removing special will allow for more primary battles early on, and force players to learn map control.
Most players will need to adapt, and get better at pvp without constant special ammo... this means the crucible will be more competitive in a healthy way, unlike terrible connection SBMM
But what do I know! I'd rather hear what you all think - Let's get some discussion going
-
Everyone is concerned about the sidearms ammo But I don't see any forum post about how OP sidearms are currently so what's the big deal if they get ammo or not. They dont kill in one shot As for No Land Beyond and Universal Remote, I do expect players to try them at first which is cool because it promotes weapon diversity. and a player must decide if they are worth using more than other exotic primary's like Mida and LW. I think it will work out
-
They should make it that you don't spawn with sniper ammo but you spawn with shotgun and side arm ammo. It less of it. :)
-
This is a great thing. It's going to be fun watching streamers who ruined this game get their ass kicked. Choke on a penis mtashed
-
Just promotes NLB, TLW, Icebreaker & Invective. If you think it does more than that, then you don't play enough inferno.
-
The great Hovey nerf of 2016... I'm just fooling. I'm pretty sure kjhovey could res snipe me with an empty 1kYS... Agreed; its going to slow thing down a bit in the early round(s).
This only enforces my NLB/Sidearm.

Maybe I'll finally be able to get past 5 wins on a card.

Probably not.
Just promotes more camping. It's a terrible nerf. Bungie just catering to the whiny bad kids as usual who die to something a lot and complain about it so it gets nerfed. This is further going to drive people away from the game, it's retarded. It's going to make elimination and trials super unbalanced if one team gets special and the other doesn't because they're dead after the 1st round lol. Probably see a ton of ice breakers now until that somehow gets nerfed or fixed so you can't do it. May as well just put pillows and squirt guns in the game at this point it's so pussified in crucible now.
-
Agreed man, I've been wanting a primary only playlist for a very long time, this isn't quite it but pvp will be a lot better
-
Lol I don't play anymore but if you look at my Warlock you'll notice he would go entirely unaffected...
-
Time to whip out the no land
-
My universal remote and sidearm load out means I'll still be starting with plenty of special ammo :)
-
How about all players get 12 bullets at the start. Its up to individual players to decide whether to use them early or late in the game. No boxes of ammo at all.
-
I think it will just make the first round go slower n people will wait for ammo and camp....after first round everything will go back to normal...
-
agree, looking forward to it. nlb plus sidearm practice week!
-
All those snipers telling the primary users to adapt and get good. Well looks like its time to practice what they preach
-
bad players who rely on special weapons will get bodied like they deserve. The only good patch destiny has come out with so far in ttk.
-
It's ok. I used shotgun at y1 and now i use sniper at y2. I guess bungie just decided to nurf special ammo so both all special weapons are affected and not just sniper or shotgun because those 2 are always fighting in the forums.
-
Three months ago, I wouldn't have liked this change, but I do see the benefit. If special ammo had been like this in all game modes and special ammo a bit more scarce, I wonder how pvp would change. Shot package and rangefinder would still need to go on shotguns imo, but they probably wouldn't have needed to nerf them as much. Honestly, if shotguns couldn't increase their range, would they need have been nerfed? Same with fusion rifles It really made me think. Of course, people carried shotguns and fusion rifles because of overpowering primaries. Would we notice certain primaries being a problem and would they make appropriate changes without ruining the experience like they did with auto rifles in both pve and pvp?
-
Okay. Cool
-
Disagree. Its a "better-than-nothing" fix, that is necessary because Bungie refuses to fix the real problem. The fact that primary weapon TTK is too long...and so all the games primary weapons don't kill fast enough to force sniper and shotgun users to have to respect primary weapon fire. Restricting special ammo wont' fix the problem....it will just reduce the number of times the problem occurs. Plus it will probably magnifiy the problem in cases where one team monopolizes control over the special ammo, versus another. So I suspect you'll see a lot of situations where---once the contest over who gets the special is settled----matches will get lopsided pretty quick.

Edited by The 7th fall: 2/7/2016 3:33:23 AMAnother nerf rather than a buff... if Bungie reverted all these 'tweaks' back to pre 1.1.1. nerf patch and simply buffed pulse rifles in general, toned down Thorn DoT, put TLW where it's at now, toned down Suros Regime a smidge, and kept ALL the maps in rotation for PvP then I'd say we would have a teriffic meta to play in. The problem right now is that 90% of all primary guns suck donkey balls right now thus is why people are using secondary weapons way more. Bungie is going way too far with these nerfs to where just about every primary weapon is an equally sh*tty option except for TLW, NLB and Mida Tool. Although you can bet that when people can only use primaries you'll see complaints about TLW, NLB and Mida Tool skyrocket, then where will your praise for nerfs end up huh? Special ammo crates are fine as they are and the ammo we spawn with, the real culprit here is Bungie nerfing primary guns way too much since patch 1.1.1. In beta days and the early release days of Durpstiny it was great fun in Crucible because everything(except pulse rifles) were powerful. I'd get gunned down by random hand cannons, auto rifles, scout rifles, hell even the odd pulse rifle had it's limelight, it was FUN... now it's mainly TLW or Mida Tool, soon to join the overused ranks is NLB because it's a sniper in the primary slot to avoid having to scrounge around for special ammo.

I personally believe that dying with special ammo in PvP should either reduce the ammo count by ~50-75% or drain it to empty entirely. It should have a similar feeling to scoring power weapons in Halo games with all the risk included.
No ammo drops on death though pls
-
I think a better way is every death u have u lose half ur special ammo...I think destiny devs took the easy way out n made a quick fix...atleast they are trying though...
-
Inferno playlist been having this special ammo"nerf".
-
I'm sure someone else has already said this buttttt ice breaker/invective until special drops means you can still snipe every where..... kind of sucks you have to wait forever for shotty ammo

I'd like for people to do what you listed... But I doubt anyone will adapt in a positive way.
