Using an exotic for infusion should have added benefit

When infusing a piece of equipment with another exotic piece of equipment, it doesn't behave any differently than if you used an uncommon piece of equipment...but it should. Since you lose a shard and a lot of material in the exotic by infusing, it should at least bring the other equipment up to the same level as the exotic you infuse into it.

  • My opinion on it would be that here be a curve for it perhaps. So exotics are 100%, legendaries are 90%, rares are 80% and so on.

  • Infusion should be 100%. That would fix infusion and make it much more useful.

    • More lazy game design from BUNGIE. The build of this game is all visual. Most of the behind build is awful work....

      • Bump. Infusion is less effective on them it should work the other way around too, but no everything just increases grind. Especially because you give up exotic shards which now only come from dismantling.

      • They want to play more for strange coins to make you wait till the weekend for Xur to arrive to buy 3oC's to pop a 3oC to play more for an exotic engram drop to go back to the cryptarch to break the exotic armor down to finally get a shard and to rinse and repeat again. As they say in Wayne's World "Grind on Wayne!" "Grind on Garth!"

Or another question... If I'm infusing and exotic into another exotic why does it need to charge me an exotic shard in the process? I'm already losing one shard not breaking down the one exotic. So the game is essentially stealing two exotic shards from you when this happens

          • Agreed. Using legendary or exotic gear should result into a 1:1 infusion. The infusion system is just so punishing in this game that it has sucked the life out of this game and killed any reason I have to keep playing it. I feel like ANY time I dedicate to playing this game is a waste of time. By comparison, it may actually be MORE fun to down a gallon of laxative and spend 3-4 hours on the toilet than it is to spend an equivalent amount of time playing Destiny. Primarily due to the infusion system.

          • At the very least, if you infuse an exotic into a legendary, you should get the shard back.

          • Yes, exotics and legendaries should go farther than a rare infusion

          • I like that Exotic haveing 100% infusion rate. Whatever the exotic is thats what other exotics or legendaries should become. That 310 exotic repeat now is a little more usful into that amazing gunsmith roll being 280. Wouldnt stock up on blues and higher legendaries sitting in my vault to level up gear i dont even have yet.

If your exotic is leveled up, and you use it to infuse another exotic, you lose two exotic shards, plus the one that it costs for infusion. This, I hate. Curtis Jackson has the right of it.

          • Dude, highly unlikely Bungie is going to something about the absurd cost of doing ANYTHING in the Destiny universe. Time, materials, etc.
